Hi everyone. After completing most of the official releases stuff, I would like to start getting into collecting Bootlegs of tours. Can anyone recommend some good CD's for the above tours so i could make a start? I have videos like PFOD, Taras shev., 3 16, Academy etc but i would like something audio from the lates 80's/90s.

there's loads of excellent shows between 85 and 87 alone for Low Life/Brotherhood material, but less of real quality soundwise in 89 and onwards. The latest stuff is top notch though.
They only did 13 dates for the Republic 'tour' and I don't think any of 'em are particularly collectable. You should be able to get a decent copy of Reading from numerous sources, and the Montreaux gig was televised.
Still don't understand this concept that Americans, more than anyone else, qualify as a 'tour'. New Order have typically done a random selection of grouped gigs - though obviously when they go Stateside it does indeed qualify as a tour 'proper'. However, for the Technique stuff avoid either of the two back-to-back US tours from 89 and try and pick up something from around the time Technique was actually released - Brazil / G-Mex 88 (not sure I've heard a decent Brazilian boot though) or the French gigs from January when the likes of Subculture and Age of Consent were still rubbing shoulders with the newer stuff and the set-lists weren't quite soooo predictable..

As Jarvo said, it's not difficult to find a decent copy of Reading 93. There is a bootleg named "Electronic Ecstasy" with 11 tracks from this concert and you'll be able to download it from KaZaa. That's what I did. :D Just type the name of the album in the search field.
I do like this bootleg, it captures the spirit of a live concert. There are two tracks missing ("Dream Attack" and "Bizarre Love Triangle") and the band was in a bad mood (it was the last gig before the split) but it's one of my favorite New Order recordings ever.
I'll stick the other two tracks on the live and rare site after the current gig ends if you like (if Wen let's me ;)).

If you have these two tracks with the same audio quality as "Electronic Ecstasy" I'll be very interested (I think I already have them from an audience recording).

At the start of the song he just says 80s and 90s though - adding the US bit when he repeats it !! We're both right :)

Chris i have one of the TWO tracks on excellent WESTWOOD ONE COMPANIES SHOW NUMBER 94-08.From this CD which cost £40 in about 1994/95 the track BIZARRE LOVE TRIANGLE is one missing from my copy of ELECTRONIC ECSTASY.

I already have the whole Reading 93 concert on CD - mixer desk, but excellent quality sound - it's just not called 'Electronic Ecstasy'!

Me too. I've never come across any bootlegs of live gigs circa Technique era - especially the few US dates they did with - I think - Public Image Ltd. It would be cool to get hold of some stuff from that period.... Wasn't there a third well-knownband who was with them on that US leg of the tour - I'm sure there was but their name escapes me.
On the first leg of the tour that I went on it was "Throwing Muses" who supplied the support.
The second leg saw "The Sugarcubes" & "Public Image Limited" first up.
There are some pretty good recordings of the Atlanta Southern Star Amphitheatre show going around including a "pro" CD called "Silence". The New Orleans show at the Saenger Theatre also surfaced tho' it's not that great.
I would personally love to hear the Miami Knight Center show (the 1st mailnland US gig of that tour) again and especially the St. Petersburg show which saw "Blue Monday" filled with the most wonderful orchestral samples. You always remember these things better than they actually were tho' - don't you?
Ah - that's it! Thanks for reminding us. The Sugarcubes. I remember reading about it in Melody Maker. Wasn't this leg of the tour where New Order were virtually falling apart and the varius members refused to speak to each other... combination of their excessive hedonism and the gruelling schedule and the effect it was having on Barney's morale or something.?
I remember going to a couple of the aftershows on that tour and the word excessive would be one word for what was going on.
I went to Kirstin Hersch's birthday party at a club in St. Petersburg after the show and got seriously pissed and that was the quietest night I spent in the States during that visit. The other parties were totally full-on affairs that must have created a few sore heads and lighter wallets. Hooky rarely appeared at the aftershows and other than the Miami party, I didn't see Barney much either. Plenty of girls lining up to meet them so they had other things on their minds I'm sure...
You lucky person! I'm a big Kristen Hersh fan - she's one of my favourite singers. Wonder what's happened to her of late? She's been awfully quiet.

She's still performing anyway...
Not only is Hersh still performing, Throwing Muses are reforming with an LP and tour next year.....
Remember reading an interview with her not so long ago where she was asked about her worst tour experience, and she cited the above mentioned '89 US extravaganza, directly citing the Order's gargantuan drug intake as the worst aspect.....

Ive got Atlanta, Saengar Center, LA, SF and Wantagh from the US tour. Quality isnt great but none of the Technique ones seem to be well apart from Glasgow and Reading 89. If you want I'll send one to Chris after Finsbury for public consumption.

I think Hersh's exact words were: "New Order were passing round bucketfuls of drugs. It was awful".
