See, but if they did limited pressings of it, the audiophiles and collectors have the option of buying the physical product while they last. A digital release afterward just assures that even if gets dumped on the net illegally, there's still a few people out there that will buy it for their iPhones and whatnot. They did this with the JD +- Singles box set already. Its been up on iTunes for awhile now.
Great news. personally I would want it on vinyl as I have the rest of the NO stuff on vinyl so it owuld compelte the collection. Shoudl come with a free download coupon. Release it as a stand alone mini album

There is something actually quite perverse yet appropriate about using Still as the title. Afterall, they used the Substance title for each band, so why not stick the final show around the breakup (Brazil 2006) as the final Hooky gigs at the back end of the album. I like that idea.

Agree with Hooky when he says that doing this will finally draw a line under the whole sorry saga.... this has been unfinished business for too long now - ALMOST SEVEN YEARS NOW.... so to finally get some closure on things is the best way to go about things.
Of course, what the other ex members - especially Bernard - say is another matter entirely....
I still hope that some of the tracks are better than Hellbent....

New Order have never done this format (not counting the 1981-1982 Factus 8 Canadian import that is) so why the hell not embrace it now seeing as it's for the last time?

I guess people can throw ideas around left, right and centre but the reality is these new tracks will more than likely appear as the incentive and to create a "buzz" to promote the Republic, Get Ready and WFTSC re-issues, as already said as the bonus tracks for the last album. There's no way it'll be a "new" album the way things sit between Hook and everyone else currently.
Thats probably the best way, then everyone can buy (digitally) what they want.

To be fair, Saville had HALF a good idea with the Republic cover..... the image of the burning house would be very appropriate for the new material!
Anyone who knows New Order knows that there is no such thing as 'closure'. I would bet my house on it that we will see them all together again live at some point within the next five years.
I am glad to see those last 7 release period what ever form. At least offer it for US Market. There still many NO fans across this side of the pond.

BTW, I came to the conclusion, for myself, that I'd love to see them released separately as EP, not as part of a 2xCD WFTSC edition. With a new cover art, a new single, all that jazz...
Maybe a new tour lol.

Yeah, the more I think about it - if WFTSC didn't sell that well, why worry about what format it will be put out on? Just release them as they are, no padding with the Control soundtrack or anything else unless it's actually going to have some thought and effort behind it. A 7-song EP will surely sell about equal to a WFTSC 2-disc set? In fact the latter seems less likely to sell, with people paying for more songs that they probably already have anyway.
Really pleased we're gonna get to hear these tracks by the way!

I wouldn't bet my house, but I might bet yours. After all, never say never (only I just did, twice). Like... It should've been over when Ian died, then they made the biggest selling 12" ever. It should've been over when they did the side projects, then they had their first number one single and second number one album. And it should DEFINITELY have been over after 93, then they - finally - returned more united than ever... So who knows? I'm as much in the dark as anyone else, and I don't wanna get embroiled in all the bitchiness, but just maybe they'll be back one day...

Yeah it's funny how everyone's slagging off WFTSC but wanking themselves silly over the thought of hearing a handful of tracks that were rejected from it! Including me.
In this thread http://www.neworderonline.com/Forums/MessageList.aspx?ThreadID=46699 (Oct 14, 2009), 9 tracks are mentioned and that two needed some extra work.
I wish they would take the 7" remixes and combine them with the unreleased tracks if they are going to reissue as a 2xCD of WFTSC.
Here's an idea: do a 7-song double EP, that is one disc with the original material and the other with cool dub versions. That'll be interesting.
