Interesting reading all this - for me its simply the songs, I would of course like the original NO to be playing but as long as its bernards voice I am cool with whoever is playing and this line up is as near a dammit

NEW ORDER WAS BERNARD...he carried it across from Joy Division ..with more diversity ..more electro ..maybe not to everyones ears..but im sure the most of you ..bein on a New Order site will have empathy with that ..Hookys sound was unique ..in Joy Division ..but no different in New Order ..though the music was ..Bernard /Steve/Gillian made that ..

I'm sure both bands will enjoy playing their songs and they're both entitled to play those songs, as is any other band. People seem to forget that you don't need permission from a anyone to play a bands music live, so the new new order could play freebass if they wanted and the light could play bad loo! That would be a laugh!

Totaly agree with that, Bernard is a fantastic musician and singer, Steve and Gillian again fantastic musicians, that's why I have all the Electronic, Bad Loo and OT stuff, but I just love the sound Hooky makes, his style certainly changed from the JD days, he became much more melodic when tey started to programme bass lines leaving him free to do what he does best, also in interviews he has said that he would often feel guilty that the others where fiddling with their guitars getting different tones, when he suggested trying something different for his bass Bernard would say no, the bass is right, and he was right with that,it's a trade mark sound.

(That's a bloody long paragraph!)

Exactly. Also, Bernard is the main songwriter in the band, and that is really apparent when you listen to various NO side projects.
