"New Order: Their Story" new documentary on Sky Arts tomorrow ?

Friday Sep 23rd 9pm, then 3:15am repeat Sky Arts1 (in the UK) 1 hour doc featuring contributions from Bernard and Peter. (not together presumably) +Collection of usual vids probably, at 10pm.

Think it's new, but don't know anything more. It did cross my mind it could be an edit of the NewOrderStory mega-documentary from the 90's. I'm sure there'll be a few repeats if I know Sky Arts.

I was just watching some of that again last night funnily enough.

I did like that intro to it. That woman narrator is a bit Marmite. Some didn't like her? I don't mind her but not not to everyone's taste.Who is she? Sounds like Paul Morley wrote the words though

The doc was (in)famously broadcast by ITV the night NO played Reading 93. Had set my video to record it but when we got back the next day from the gig it had recorded but my telly had gone out of tune during recording and all i had was a black and white fuzzy picture. Could barely make out the sound and images Had to wait for the VHS release some months later to watch it properly

No, that was Jane Seymour. Although it's not clear to me if it was Jane Seymour the actress or Jane Seymour one of Henry VIII's wives. If only there was some sort of system or engine that we could use to search for that kind of information...

Just watched that... the version of Spooky in that video is top! Always thought that track was a pile of wank but now I've seen it in a completely new light! The mix really brings Bernard's vocal melody to the forefront, which is probably the strongest part of the track.

Quite agree dear boy......and to be honest Republic is one of my fav albumns.....Regret is just the best pop song......

Had NewOrderStory on . Wow, there wasn't one single ad break . Might watch Sky Arts more often if they have no adverts.

Sky Arts is a good channel for music. They seem to get the license to broadcast released DVDs a few years after they're released in the shops - hence this showing of NewOrderStory + A Collection videos which I think I bought on DVD about 4 years ago when it came out as a Ltd Double(?) They've also shown 2 of the New Order live DVDs as well, frequently over the past few years, albeit slightly edited down to fit schedule slots.

This year they've also been showing 'Rockpalast' German gigs by Echo & the Bunnymen & the Smiths from 1983. The Bunnymen one is superb. Never realised McCulloch used to play 2nd guitar for a whole gig before, in the early days. I hope Sky Arts dig up more gems from this strange German TV Archive they've got.

Plus recent Sheffield in the 80s documentaries have been brilliant similar to Factory/Manchester ones.

I haven't watched NOS for years. Always a pleasure, though. I felt kinda sorry for this chick to recite the gibberish that Paul Morley wrote; hopefully she got a good joint to get by.

Anyway, I always wondered (or I don't remember), where are these two guys coming over to the helicopter taken from? Is it from a video or what? It's not the Chemical Brothers, is it?

Er, one of them is Quincy Jones.Not that i'm a big fan of him. Just sayin

The two people in the helicopter were Quincy Jones and Claude Nobs, former head of Montreux Jazz Festival. This scene is therefore a part of the NOS document.
