It doesn't seem to get mentioned often on here. I like it, been listening to it again recently. Very chilled out. Brings back memories for me of going to the Saville exhibition at the London Design Museum in summer 2003. Read somewhere that Barney doesn't feature on it all? Don't know if that's true.

It's brilliant. Underrated too.
I read somewhere that it's a Hooky/Steve co-write. It was meant to be all three of them but they got bored waiting for Bernard to show up to the studio and so just started without him. Not sure if that's true or not.
It's mixed by Merv De Peyer who worked on the third Electronic album. He manages to blend everything so it sounds really tripped out and ethereal.
Me and the Mrs had it playing in the room where we got married as people were arriving and getting seated. Fitted perfectly.
Can't remember, I only listened to it once when it came out and it didn't really make an impression. Too lazy to dig out the CD now.
I love it. My 13 yr old son noticed how long it was... as he never a heard a song so long... at first he complained (as teenagers do) but after the song ended he mentioned how much he liked it.

My thoughts entirely. I honestly can't remember how this one went at the time and am not entirely sure I want to revisit it now.
And seeing as I've got the attention span of a gnat then I usually find these things quite hard to deal with (see also: extended Elegia)
Really like it ... the whole 30 minutes of it.
It's more fun when you read something on internet or so.

Good music to do household chores to though - just like the image on the cover suggests.
Studious sort of noodling but doesn't really grab me by the balls.
That is not to say it's bad though. Just a tad forgettable....
It's fluff, but good quality fluff nevertheless.

Hardly ever play it but always enjoy it when I do, just to zone out for 20 minutes. It's good, and by NO's 2001 era standard it's really good.
When I've got some ball-ache work to do and the deadline is approaching, I stick the Saville Soundtrack on and just get on with it.

1st time ive played it for ages. It really is very good Much much better than the instrumentals on Control.

Sounds like most of the soundchecks then; waiting for Bernard to have his hair done!

Perhaps! Actually I've found the source for what I remembered:
During a chat with Peter Saville, Peter said that the track was recorded by Peter Hook and Stephen Morris after they gave up waiting for Bernard Sumner to arrive at the studio.
It's a great piece of ambient though. Hasn't dated at all either, could be released tomorrow and it would still sound pretty fresh. I like how Steve used bits of Peter Saville's voice on his answering phone in the mix, you can almost make out what he's saying but not quite.
Nice touch.
