24 Hour Party People DVD Background Music

The Peter Saville Soundtrack Thread reminded me of this; anyone know who arranged the tunes on the DVD menus pages?

I can attest that, if you're pissed enough, listening to these is quite relaxing.

Are full length versions available anywhere?

Not played the DVD for years but I remember the menu music being a cracking tune. Will have to dig it out again . Have still never found out who did that tune so I could hear a full version

I believe, if my memory serves correctly, that the track that plays on the DVD menu is Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald.

On one of the menu pages on the American edition of the 24 Hr PP DVD, Voodoo Ray is playing. I remember because I used to leave it on that menu page, with VR looping over and and over just so I could hear it (I didn't own the track at the time).

I've been trying to find what the track is playing over the scene selection section of the UK DVD for years, it's a opera voice over a trip hop beat. Kinda downbeat sounding track but i've always loved it. Anyone any ideas?

I hopefully one day they'll release a directors cut on blu-ray, with all the extra footage they shot, though I seem to remember it was lost when a post production company when bust:\ohwell:

From what you describe, it sounds like Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald, which features a sample of a female opera singer over a trip hop beat.

One could also easily infer that one is talking absolute bollocks. She is singing in a soul and/or R&B style as accompanied most Acid House music of the time.

I really don't think Voodoo Ray is Trip-Hop either, you're at least 4-5 years too early there.

Yes I know it's Acid House and I also know that she is singing in an R an B style but if someone isn't familiar with the song or music genres they might describe the beat as a Trip Hop one and because the singer is female and singing in a higher register they might describe it as sounding opera like for lack of a better description. I was only trying to help, jeez. The fellow can watch the video posted and see if its the menu song or not.

At any rate, I think that I remember Voodoo Ray playing over one of the menu pages on the 24 Hour PP DVD, but I could be wrong, and I said that in the beginning.

Was a good idea, but I didnt think it would be part of album. I was hoping it was something knocked up by part of the Inner Circle that someone on here would know about.

it sounds a bit Fila Brazilia-ish to me, uses a sample they used on Mermaids. A bit Beloved-ish as well, or Cabaret Voltaire/ Richard H. Kirk in their ambient techno phase.

It's not death metal though.
