Sad to say, but that's a ridiculous price if they genuinely want to sell a few of these.
Might've been better value if the poster covered both gigs possibly?
I know it's for a good cause, but for fuck sake, whoever dreamt up those prices needs a reality check if they think the average fan can afford that. Just getting to the gigs and travel/accomodation has set us back nearly 400 notes and that doesnae include money for milk and cookies.....which will completely wipe me out.
At those prices, only the cockerney bankers will be able to afford em :\peek:
Well yes it's for a good cause (we all know people close to our hearts who are seriously/terminally ill) but I think it's an insult to the fans intelligence. Nice posters but over £200? Outrageous. Would have been better to produce a cheaper poster and sell for less. Then I'm sure they would sell more. Makes Hook's Foruli book package look cheap.
Bearing in mind that in time the probable charity will eventually be New Order themselves. They must be strapped for cash if the resources they may have reserved for Michael are such that they expect us to fork out these sums of money to bolster the total funds. Steve must be wondering where the next tank is coming from, for example.

Wow. You know, when it comes to charity stuff, this poster they are doing is certainly not uncommon.
And they aren't expecting the average fan to fork out the money for these posters, they are obviously expecting wealthier fans who wish to donate to a charitable cause.
As for travel expenses, you guys realize that New Order have thousands of fans all over the world, not just on NOOL, right? And you realize that the majority of the people going to the Brussels and Paris shows....probably actually live in Brussels and Paris.
On an unrelated note, I was in a bar in Williamsburg in Brooklyn Saturday night, the DJ was playing the dance remix of WFTSC and a bunch of gay guys were dancing to it and singing along to the words.
I also wish they would have also released something a little more affordable rather than 150-200 quid straight off the bat. Still, it's for a good cause and if there's fans who are prepared to drop 400+ quid on a pimped up edition of Hooky's Hacienda book then there will surely be a few takers for these. It's less about the overall obvious worth of the item and more about an exclusive souvenir as thanks for medical care contributions. No doubt they would look pretty cool framed, especially the signed ones.
My contribution (so far) is three tickets bought and paid for but if there are further collectables in the range of say, 50 quid then I'll gladly dip my hand in my pocket. I'm hoping there will be some cheaper posters and T shirts available to purchase at the venues on the nights. Better yet, get Abbey Road Live to record the gigs and sell them as 2xCDr later via the web. I'm sure pretty much everyone on these forums would order a copy.
If Hooky can do it with The Light live at Goodwood then I'm sure The Other Three can.
Regardless, let's hope they sell a fair few of these posters

It was something to see, I tell you. I mean, there were a bunch of them (like 25-30) and they all knew the words.
It was at Union Pool, which is a really popular bar in Williamsburg, big art and music crowd there and Andy Rourke Dj's there a lot. There are also usually a lot of dumb hipsters there but the music is very good, always a lot of New Order, Happy Mondays, Acid House,Talking Heads, DFA, and Euro disco stuff being played.
I do hope they raise some money with the posters, as you said, and it would be good if there were something a little more affordable to buy so the fan with the average income could contribute....I imagine three tickets plus travel expenses would set one back, ya know?

Speaking of, would anybody be willing to pick up a gig shirt for me? I can't nip off to Paris or Belgium on a whim but I'd like a new shirt. (The old 89 is getting thin.)
Aesthetic note-- the collector's posters are okay, but I prefer the red-font NewOrder with the band members' names that they did to announce the shows. These posters look like Substance with a flag stripe across them.

A bland item for a stupid price, this is becoming a habit with members of New Order. A realistic price should be £15 - £30, then they'd sell loads.
How long do reckon it took Saville to come up with that masterpiece then? "Hmmm. New design for a charity gig? Fuck it, TOWIE is about to start so lets just copy Substance"
Sometimes its possible to read too much into these things but I dont recall the band introducing themselves in such a weird way before, either. "Hi Im Bernard Sumner etc and WE'RE New Order etc".

Bernard saying "...and we are New Order.." followed by Steven & his shifty eyes, & Gillian looking very uncomforatble....
This is NOT New Order, and they know it. It all seems very false and very shifty IMHO.

I took it as they were having trouble keeping a straight face, probably because they think it's funny that they are flogging posters (even if for a good cause).
It's most of New Order, good enough for me. It's no fault of Bernard's, Steve's, or Gillian's that Hooky isn't there.
Ok, it's a few bob, but if we're talking about a limited edition, signed by PS with the proceeds going to Shamberg then I haven't got a problem with it. Bit too easy to slag somet on price alone. It's got exclusivity and a cause behind it so fair dos really.
If you're going to the gigs then you're making a donation anyway and you're getting something great back in return, better value than the signed print most would say.
Not bothered about it being a cannibalisation of a previous design either, surely that keeps costs down which means more cash can go towards Shambergs health care? And there isn't really time to create something to scratch either.
If a limited run signed by PS went up on eBay I wouldn't be surprised to see folk chase the price up to this sort of price or higher. So may as well get the cash to Shamberg rather than to a poster tout.
I'm not in the market for one, spunking enough on the gigs, but hope they shift them.
The price and cause aside, am I the only one who's disappointed that they (or is it Saville alone?) opted for a re-make of Substance? Ever since this nostalgia started with the Singles design, it's not a good sign. And there's Bernard constantly saying he's not into the past.
Now, if Saville would have come up with something like Les Barnes Douches cover art (itself a poster) or one of his Waste Painting series, but all new, that would have been exciting.

I like the posters and I guess they hark back to the period when Shamberg worked with the band the most. Also Substance is New Order's most recognisable image, so Saville has used this image for these two reasons.

Talking of buckets I shall be strolling around both nights rattling my charity bucket so give generously then maybe I can afford a poster
