'm going to carry on pretending that this isn't happening and I'm not actually sat at work suffering from man flu while Age Of F'in Consent and 586 are being resurrected and (by all accounts) the C'Mon quota has been substantially reduced... Chances of a completely new setlist in Paris? They're bound to play Procession...

I was standing at the same side of the stage as the person filming this,(I wasn't singing along),I would have liked to have heard more of Gillians keyboards on this one,also,they played it after Bernard had earlier responded to a request to play it by saying that New Order would never again play 1963 as long as he is in the band,he also later on made a joking reference to being a "Twat". I could see two autocues on the left and right of where Bernard was standing but he didn't seem to resort to them much,as for the atmosphere,I thought it was pretty euphoric especially when they played those songs from PCL,they began with a truncated version of Elegia which was a surprise. True Faith was a rebooted version which reminded me of the Morning Sun remix but I would like to hear it again to be sure. Tom Chapman seemed nervous at the start and stood further back on the stage than the others but I think his confidence grew as the set proceeded and he come forward eventually and by the time of The Perfect Kiss was getting well in to it, I don't think his playing could be faulted,and he does add some much needed height to the line up:) Gillians finest moment for me was the solo towards the end of 586 and it is indeed a welcome return for her.. The DJ beforehand helped get the atmosphere going by playing tracks such as Voodoo Ray and Expo 2000 amongst others. I wouldn't be surprised if they played something off Technique in tonights Paris gig as that album wasn't revisited in the Brussels gig, that's just my guess.. T-Shirts at the gig cost 25 Euro and to piss at the AB would set you back 40 cent for each visit to the toilets Finally, Bernard did go on his knees during BLT which looked a bit painful but he did manage to get up again unaided..

After watching numerous high quality clips of New Order performing Elegia,Crystal, Krafty, Age of Consent, 1963, True Faith, BLT, 586, Perfect Kiss, Temptation, and Blue Monday, I will say this...

Bernard and Company put a LOT of work into this show....from resurrecting 586 (which sounds AMAZING) and Elegia to playing new versions of Krafty, True Faith, and Temptation (all of these tracks had new, extended intros and outros), to rocking out on Age of Consent (whoever thought they would hear THAT again?) to the really impressive video projections...I would say this is the best that New Order have looked and sounded in YEARS.

Now that Gillian is back, New Order have a proper Keyboard player again and hearing the synths on Crystal, Krafty, and Regret being played live as opposed to being sequenced sounds a million times better. True Faith, which features both Phil and Gillian playing live keyboards, sounds amazing, the best it has sounded since the late 80's. She plays the keyboards beautifully and this element of the band sounds the best that it has in years.

Blue Monday sounds awesome too, lot's of nice work from Steve, Gillian, and Phil, with Phil playing Hooky's drum pad parts (as he also does on TPK) it sounds really great.

Watching Bernard perform is great. He is actually PERFORMING, singing to the crowd, making hand gestures, dancing, this is the happiest and most into it he has looked in a long time.

As a matter of fact, all them play really well and seem really happy to have New Order back. Tom Chapman plays Hooky's bass parts perfectly with adding his own bits here and there, and the does not try to be Hooky onstage. Hooky is missed, but it works.

With Phil and Gillian both playing keyboards, and the heavy dose of dance numbers in the setlist, it seems like New Order have rediscovered their dance side, and they sound a lot better for it. Hooky always said he preferred to play the rockier stuff while Bernard preferred the dancier stuff....this is DANCE New Order and they sound fucking brilliant. I can totally see them headlining the dance festival in Brazil with a set like this.

Also, did anyone notice that Elegia is played totally live, with no sequencing? 1963 sounds totally live as well. With Gillian playing keyboards on just about every song, seems like the sequenced parts are now just mostly electronic bass and drums.

Again, I have to say I like the new versions of Krafty, Temptation, True Faith, and Crystal a lot, and all of the songs sound fantastic. The Perfect Kiss really rocks...

I think that, based on the amount of work they put into this, New Order are back. I expect they will do some UK dates and tour the US. And if they can make a new Electro heavy album that captures the essence of this show, I say bring it on.

Like everyone, I wish Hooky were onstage, but the situation is what it is, so I say bring on new New Order.

I could see the mixing desk and the decibel level was always reading between 96-102 db when things were going full blast.

If someone can tell Phil that every New Order song would sound better without shedloads of widdly-woo guitar, that would be perfect.

It feels like a rebirth : as exciting as 1998 was.

I thought the same. there's no way they can leave it at two shows given the effort put in and how well it was received (certainly in Brussels and I doubt they'll have any trouble in Paris.

As an aside I did think the DJ was shit though, mixing wasn't his strong suit

Watched the ig last night on you tube, it sounded fantasitc, really pleased they played tracks off PC&L. Crystal sounded a littel weak but aprt from that brilliant Can't wait for a UK tour, The whole of the band looked like they really enjoyed it. Just need to ressurrect a few tracks off Technique. ...happy days oh happy days

I did notice on that track though they appeared to have sampled some of the synth sounds from the original 12", which is cool.

I thought he did it with an attitude of affection towards her, as he always does. I always thought that Bernard seemed fond of Gillian. She seems like such a sweet, laid person, I cannot imagine anyone disliking her.

On another note, it's great that Bernard finally found someone to give him a good haircut and a good fade again! he'd mentioned recently that his long time barber had died so he couldn't find anyone to do a proper fade (or Barney Cut haha).

I wouldn't be surprised if Stuart Price has assisted with programming the new versions of the songs, as he and Bernard are friends and enjoy working together.

I think that NO had record company support for this gig. Having a fancy light show like that is not cheap, and New Order have had fantastic light shows since 1989 at least, compare that with the Bad Loo shows, the first round of which had great light shows but the second round of which did not (because they were not signed to a label and probably didn't have enough money). Video projections that like don't come cheap either....

I think that NO had record company backing for these shows, and this leads to believe that...

The electronic solo album that Bernard was making with Stuart Price, along with the second BL album that Price was also supposedly working on has probably been morphed into a a new New Order album. With a new NO record produced by a very current and hip Producer, one could see a record company getting behind New Order again.

I think that they have probably been secretly planning this since late Winter...it is even entirely possible that when Bad Loo played FOM, they knew it would be their last show as BL.

They have done these shows to help Shamberg, and also to test the waters for a new New Order lineup...given that the response and reviews have been nothing but positive and that they sound the best that they have in a while, I think they will probably move forward.

I am glad that they only played one JD song. They didn't even need to. I have always felt that New Order were musically superior to JD, and it irked me to see them playing 5 JD songs a set. I am glad they seem comfortable just being NO again.

I am glad that they only played one JD song. They didn't even need to. I have always felt that New Order were musically superior to JD, and it irked me to see them playing 5 JD songs a set. I am glad they seem comfortable just being NO again.

I don't think one is superior to the other-- they're apples and oranges for me-- but I agree that the JD stuff was getting really old. It felt like they were almost saying 'sorry about the whole New Order thing, here's New Dawn Fades again.' They shouldn't chuck the JD stuff entirely, but I'd love to see them do (a couple of) JD songs with a very NO updated twist. Example: Isolation at Reading 98. Better than the original IMHO.

Joking aside, it was great to see the clips on youtube. some great new versions of old classics. would love to hear 586 in full.

Agreed! I mean, I think of JD and NO as the same band, I just think that, musically, they got better with time. Somtimes they sounded great doing JD songs (Transmission, Shadowplay, LWTUA, These Days), other times, not so much. I agree with you, would prefer that if they did JD songs, they revamped them, ala Isolation!

Heart & Soul was by far the best. And Atmosphere, when Barney held off the whoops.
