Barney got no love for Technique!!!

Its been l4 years since they played something from this album. I just dont get why they wont play anything from Technique. Replace Krafty with Dream Attack or replace Crystal with Run. For God sake men,just play something on Technique!!!

Dream Attack and Round & Round always sounded good live but were never highlights. I always thought Mr. Disco, Vanishing Point and, strangely, Fine Time went down the best of the Technique tracks live.

Interesting to note that it is the guitar based songs from Technique that they struggled to play live, maybe now with Phil on board those songs might also work. Just so long as they don't go to the other extreme and do a Technique tour...

Fine Time sounds cracking live on some of the old recordings, Cleveland 89, NEC 89 for example. Not the biggest fan of the track but live it were grand

Two of my abiding Memories of NO live were Vanishing Point at GMex 1988 and Round and Round at Reading 1993. Fine Time was a great encore too.

Barney is a twit: Technique is easily their best album.

I've always thought that Gillian and Steve did loads on that album. There's a clip somewhere of those two discussing 'Don't Do It' as they play it on their Mac (I think).

Now Gillian is back, perhaps we can expect some more Technique.

Seconded. According to the band, Run and Guilty Partner never worked live - both were last aired in 98. GP only ever got two live attempts, both in December, and were reported to be, technically, shite.

Technique's a tricky one because it's a great *album*, but in terms of taking a song from it and putting it in their current setlist, it's interesting...would the Technique song be the new Krafty, ie the new sink in the set?

Personally I'd choose Dream Attack or Vanishing Point, and yet when they played Dream Attack in 1993 it felt a bit "Here's an extra track to break the set up before we get back to the hits".

They tend to pick the singles / hits mostly, as most bands do, but when you look at it in terms of eras....

Movement = Ceremony, Temptation PCL = Blue Monday Low Life = Perfect Kiss Brotherhood = BLT Republic = Regret Get Ready = Crystal Technique = um......Round & Round, Fine Time.

It doesn't compare, does it? And yet Technique is one of their best *albums*.

I can't see that with any other New Order album - not even PC&L.

I would've loved if they'd update a Vanishing Point into Mr Disco medley like EGG and Temptation. But seeing what they've played recently a rocking version of Love Less would be welcome, I'm probably the only one who likes Phil's "additions" to songs.

"Run" sounded beautiful at the Apollo in 98.

GP was awful at both 98 shows.

Fine Time was and is always a good romp live.

Anyone who thinks that the gig will fall over if they bust out FT, VP, Mr Disco, Run, or R&R is very very wrong.

It's a challenging song to sing, actually. He struggled a bit maintaining breathing control during live versions in the 80s, especially by the third verse. Still, his vocal on the 12" is one of his most compelling. Barney could be quite soulful in his boyish way.

I always thought All the Way had the makings of a great US single. It had a very American radio feel to it, from its length to its guitar sound and simple chorus. Couldv'e done quite well on US Radio in my opinion.
