After the success of his 2010 Unknown Pleasures 30th Anniversary Tour, Joy Division bassist, PETER HOOK, will return to Australia in 2012 with his band THE LIGHT, to play the classic album CLOSER, in full, sequentially and in track order, with shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. The tour is a celebration of the legacy of the music of Joy Division who have become one of the most revered bands in musical history and their influence remains strong with many bands and fans world.

Although the band was to last only three and a half years with the tragic suicide of Joy Division lead singer, Ian Curtis in May 1980, the Martin Hannett produced seminal second and final album “CLOSER” was released two months later, becoming an instant classic across critics and fans.

The release of CLOSER came as a bitter-sweet comfort to fans around the world who, while mourning Curtis’ loss, were also celebrating the creation of what has been referred to as Joy Divisions’ finest work. One of my musical highlights in life was meeting Hooky out the back of the theatre after the Unknown Pleasures gig and getting a pic and LWTUA signed - but I must admit, the paid meet and greet ain't my cup of tea...

There's a chance Perth will be added later but I can't guarantee it I'm afraid.

And to be fair loads of bands do these meet & greet things now, and people like it. At the end of the day nobody is forcing anyone to buy one, and if nobody does then so be it. But the option is there for people who would like to do it, so kindly jog on Burt, absolutely sick of you to be honest.

Well perhaps we will find out how many subscribe to said VIP package. Wasn't there a highly eccentric and somewhat obsessive lass called Margaret on these boards a few years back from Oz? Hopefully she's loaded.

You've taken it a bit out of context Liam, I think what Hooky is trying to say is criticism is OK but not when it comes from Burt.

If 50 people subscribe to this, Hooky would need to do a constant 4 hours before each show simply for everyone to get 5 minutes worth. How long is the meet and greet?

Aside from a T shirt ($20?) the difference between Platinum and Gold is 5 items signed and not 5 signed items, then he is charging $30 for five signatures. Does this mean he won't sign anything unless theres some dosh in it, cause i'd be a tad annoyed paying through the nose for something given away free elsewhere.

Besides..If I was in Hooky shoes I am wouldn't want to meet the type of fan that would be willing to pay $300 to meet me..

I think they've limited it to ten per show (it says in there somewhere).

One thing I did notice is that a normal 'no frills' ticket is $79 (just over 50 quid in UK money). A quick scan of other gigs suggest these sort of premium prices are not unusual in Oz, and it appears that a lot of bands charge a lot in the Antipodes. Any reason other than its so far away?
