Empires will rise, empires will fall and crumble.....

.....and when the Time Team reconvene in 2024 to mark the 30th anniversary of their first ever programme, they will come across, buried in the deep peaty moorlands above Bollington, a strange badly corroded object shaped like a crate, and upon carefully prising open the lid will discover the amazing sight of hundreds upon hundreds of brand spanking new 12 inch record sleeves with nine coloured squares adorning the front and a hastily scrawled handwritten letter clipped to one of the records with the words:

"them fucking whingers didn't deserve to have these, so I decided to bury them all before anybody could distribute them...ha ha ha...that'll teach the bastards! - PH"

...and they will declare this one of the great lost finds of the early 21st century, obviously.

Why is anyone even remotely concerned about it flying around for free on the interweb? Only about 200 people at most will be arsed to buy it and those 200 would buy it anyway even if it was free + physical release.

Just throw it up on Ichoons as a download and do a ltd. edition hard copy release - I'm sure Hooky will have some ideas on how to make a mark up on any hard copy release which will drop our jaws into the basement.

Hardly anyone on the planet cares about this release, apart from the 200 or so people who keep an eye on this site!

Depends how its marketed. If NO can sell out a 2,500 London venue in 9 minutes, and probably 20,000 tickets in South America, then I'd imagine you are way off with the figures.

There are NO fans around the world who might not visit this site often or at all for whatever reason. So, I'd say it's more than just 200 people around the world. (Of course I'm not saying everyone around the world cares either.)

lol. followed by New Order- The Musical. At a theatre near you.

Or should that be a pantomime. With New Order Now taking stage, a figure steps out from the shadows.

Theres deffo scope for A New Order Christmas Carol. Plenty of ghosts to choose from, too.

Could even include the "Morley? Is that you (Paul) Morley?" line.

Hooky will be touring the country doing small venues under his "The Light" banner, and the name of the tour?

"Oh Yes It Is! Oh No It Isn't!!"

^^

obviously a reference to the fate of Lost Sirens being released, natch!

Fair point. Guess you could call it 2,000 rather than 200. I don't everyone who went to the gigs will be that bothered with this outakes CD. Might be different if they were "lost" tracks from the LowLife era etc...

Perhaps, but the support in Sarrrffff America is big and loyal and buying. Oz will be next apparently, and i sense a new hunger for NO, fascinating considering the tired stressed beast it had become at the time the Lost Sirens were recorded.

So what's changed then? No obvious differences that may have contributed to the tiredness/stress/negativity... :confused2: :evil4:

Can't think what might have brought the new interest about, or reduced the stress levels.

I've got a sad sad feeling that this is all about the bass levels in the mix...

Easy way round that is to put out two versions - then the sales figures would show whether Team Hooky or Team NONow was the most popular!

Got an email from amazon entitled Lost Sirens, probably because i've bought something new order related through them in the past. My hopes were breifly raised, but no, March 2012 is still the supposed release date. It did remind me that I had at one point expected to have bought and listened to it by now. :\ohwell:

I don't know why anyone is surprised about the date moving, Rhino Records is notorious for pushing back releases anywhere from 3-12 months from the original release date they announce. On top of it, they haven't even officially announced it yet, it's just been listed on Amazon and discussed in interviews. I doubt any of the delay has to do with the members of the bands, or especially with the mix, it's just delayed to production wait time on the vinyl.

It'll be exciting whenever it actually does make it out, which I'm sure will be sometime in 2012 (we've waited this long!).

No, it's definitely to do with one (ex-)member of the band.
