Who the f--- are Fila Brazila though? 
This is who they are :
based in the northern fishing village of kingston upon hull, the boys can often be spied cruising the local canals on their luxury iron barge 'mavis ultra'. dave mcsherry drives an audi 80. steve cobby has a renault 25. together they form fila brazillia. herbal relief -- apart from the obvious -- comes in the form of the medieval prozac, st. johns wort, a demon banisher for sure... in between writing this and other masterpieces they still find time (to date the duo have reworked over sixty songs) to remix artists as diverse as radiohead, busta rhymes, the orb, sven vath, dj food, black uhuru, baaba maal and mixmaster morris. what hard working fellows they like you to think they are...
but it wasn't always so... dave and steve's first meeting in 1982 at a "punctured tough guy" performance was the beginning of a long and very fruitful union.
it wasn't until 1991, however, that the pair began to record as fila brazillia. hitherto their collaborations had been infrequent and ultra-spontaneous. both had maintained positions in conventional bands but needed to trade the constraints of the "write - rehearse - gig - record" treadmill for a more fluent, and ultimately enjoyable approach. a nursery period for a music culled from sonic experiments and ideas quickly put to tape emerged. a treatment of all sounds as "objet trouve" and a hobbyist attitude prevailed.
when dave brennand a.k.a. porky heard a piece composed on a wet wednesday in 1990, he asked to release it. they happily agreed. as previous unreleased work hadn't warranted anything but comedy monickers - dada black sheep being one - a name was needed. at that time the media's "killer dog frenzy" was in full swing and a breed known as the fila brasiliero was the subject of a debate in the commons. this was misheard on the radio, proposed and accepted and the name stuck. "mermaids" fila brazillia's first single, released in spring 1991, marked the beginning of a decade which saw fila yield six highly acclaimed albums and a skip full of singles on pork recordings. fila's reputation as sonic twisters grew, as did their reputation for excellent remixes.
in parallel to all this activity another plot was developing in south yorks. for a short time in 1988, steve worked at fon studios in sheffield. that studio was owned and run by chakk -- one of whose members was simeon lister. steve and sim developed a friendship that came to musical fruition with 'heights of abraham' who released 2 cds also on pork.
Fila Brazilla are much, much better on album than in person...they create moods on record, but when they try their live thing it ends up being boring and repetitive. they should stick to knob twiddling because their "live" show left me wanting my money back (and i got in free!)

They were up in this area earlier this year; is that the show you attended? I hadn't bothered reading any gig listings for awhile, and I found out about their show in Portland that day and couldn't attend. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.
Would still love to see ACR sometime though....
How close is the current lineup to the original? Not that they'll be where I live anytime soon.

The ACR line-up? Pretty much the same bunch that closed the 80's - Kerr still on vocals, Moscrop, Johnson and Quigley, with some other bloke on keyboards (dunno his name) and Denise Johnson on backing vocals.
Fila Brazilia - intriguing bunch - they remixed a couple of Radiohead songs as well I believe.
