Remasters on the Rhino UK site — Forum Archive

Hey guys and gals, was just wondering if anyone has ordered from Rhino UK and received the corrected remasters? I tried looking in my local HMVs but they don't have the album and it is out of stock online (http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?sku=864086), still need to purchase Movement and Technique. I tried emailling them to confirm, but even they didn't know the answer :confused2: Cheers!

Amazon have all 5 remastered 2cd albums in stock -

Movement, Lowlife , Brotherhood - £6.99 Technique , PC&L - £8.99

No idea if these are the fixed versions though :)

Nobody knows, is the most accurate answer. Similarly, nobody knows if Rhino bothered doing a full scale recall before releasing the fixed ones but the smart money is that they probably didn't so there's likely a "mixture" floating around. Their reputation for product quality and customer satisfaction took a real battering in the past five years and rightly so.

Most people who bought the original dodgy ones and had the patience of a saint went through Dr Rhino to get specific replacement discs but you're looking at 3 months minimum there with no guarantees. I considered randomly buying one or two of the remasters again but ending up with the same defective CDs was too much of a risk.

The problem is the packaging is identical. If you review page 13 of the pinned thread at the top of the forum there are certain differences I.e. "V2.0" in the disc matrix and stuff like that but it's difficult to confirm for sure and you'd have to buy them in order to check.

Shambolic and the music deserved better but best of luck anyway.

I bought some of these from Amazon UK. They've arrived and they appear to be the fixed versions. At least the ones I've got.

I will update the main thread with all the relevant details (matrix numbers, etc) as soon as I can.

Which ones did you buy? And are there any other sites that I could purchase these from apart from Amazon, HMV and Rhino? Because the picture for the Technique album has a outer cover on it (the original remaster)

I bought all of them except for Technique, for that reason. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's the faulty version they've got in stock.

The sticky post in the main thread is now being updated - I'm starting to add matrix numbers (but I need help with Technique). That way, one can check the discs (in a physical shop) before buying. Provided that they break the shinkwrap in order for you to check.

If you order them directly from Rhino, you will get the corrected versions. I e-mailed them recently to confirm this and they also confirmed that they did a recall and any place you buy it from should now have the corrected versions.

I ordered all 5 from Amazon US in December and they sent me the correct versions. For whatever reason, none of them had o-cards around them except Technique, so I was worried it was the old shitty version, but it was indeed the correct version. I've since seen all of them in stores with no o-cards, except Technique, which seems to sometimes have an o-card and sometimes not.

Just got an email back from Amazon UK selling the collector's edition of Technique has a slipcase and is sealed, so no idea if they are the corrected versions of not. Also my HMV order of the album is on special order from suppliers...
