The obsession with that website around the time of the MvC gig was nauseating.

I've very vague and foggy memories of visiting the old "Temptation" site around 2000-early 2001, posted a few times. Seem to remember some real oddball Norwegian or Finnish guy used to post loads of very weird ramblings. Then when that site was scrapped and re born as NewOrderonline I didn't join at first and didn't even visit for a couple of years, can never remember why. Think I just used to look on World In Motion for the latest news circa late 2001 and throughout 2002. Finally joined NOOL in 2003 but didn't really start posting til 2004.The thought of having to rely some shitty Facebook New Order forum when this place finally bites the dust is pretty depressing. Like others have said NOOL has a totally unique character which would be sadly missed
As a young American fan who joined the forums in 2004, I was glad to receive little abuse and often good answers to my questions about the band's heyday. Remember fondly the treasure trove of vintage New Order videos uploaded on youtube around 2005/2006, and the giddiness that ensued here for young and old fans alike.

I think the old NEO looked more like modern web design than the current site.
___
Creating a new Neworderonline wouldn't take much -
I've been lurking for a decade and rarely post. Yet, I'm passionate about NEO still being alive, because it's the best we have as fans. (Also: wasn't it around the release of "Control" that a bunch of official New Order/JD releases linked here? That must be worth something, right?)
I'd be really sad to see this place go. I don't post as much as I used to but Istill find myself checking this place out every few days, so that says something. I've got to say this site and its users have been absolutely amazing resources - I have really fond memories of the Weeding forum (is that still going?) and giving/receiving goodies in the mail from a host of people on here. Also met a few at a Digital gig in Kilburn. Hope this place lives on somehow.

It shouldn't be too much effort to delegate the updating of the front page to a few people.

You're wrong. A few are much better than this forum, faster, more possibilities and more stable.

Why bother though?
It's only going to be a rehash of NewOrderNow.net - if I want New Order news I can just go there now instead.
(Way too much use of the words 'new' and 'now' in that sentence, sorry!)
But what about all the other things this site brings eg able to buy tickets off fellow fans at face value, info on hotels meeting points etc. I take it this will be your last post if you can get what you need from new order now?

You've missed the point.
Those things don't form part of any 'news' page though. The news page here will only be a rehash of NewOrderNow's news so I don't get the fuss about maintaining any front page here.
I've never once mentioned killing the forums where, let's face it, the real news gets mentioned before anywhere else.

Neworderonline.com is higher ranked in search machines than newordernow.net, so it makes sense to continue the front page. But if there aren't any regular updates anymore, I am with you, there shouldn't be any news on it.
I hope the forum survives anyway,it would be a pity for it to end now with "new" music about to be released and all the upcoming gigs New Order have pencilled in for 2012.. So much to argue about.... I also think the concert browser is pretty useful.
I generally only use the forums because they're a fucking laugh, there are some very intelligent people who post on it capable of making me laugh my bollocks off. It would be a shame if that stopped.

Yep, me too. But for Newbies or to look after something the other stuff is quite good, too.

Although David let his forum die about a year ago, and doesn't update his own site as much (he's too busy on the road with the Light, I guess!)
