Hmmmmmmmm: the 4/11 has been the date touted for some time now. According to t'other site, it'll be a four CD set, a la "Heart and Soul", which kind of blows out the purists who wanted individual singles. Assuming it'll retail for a similar price - ie: £30 - and here's hoping it has a booklet with snazzy photos and inane ramblings from Paul Morley and his infinite chins......
Is this box set the now legendary ever-pending 'box set' full of rare gear or is it the new best of?
Does anyone know what's in the tin? ... beans?

no, not at all, i just think more info is there and you get better quality, plus there is no attitude there. i am a mellow guy. just dont like the other site bit. i think this is the "other site" in my opinion. you have a good site. nice and cool~
:this is the crisis i knew had to come:
Can someone clarify what is 'the other site'. Having just clicked on neworderweb and entered their chat room it would appear I was observing some sort of outbreak of war - I guess this isn't where Ed plies his trade?

Just in time for my birthday :)
More info from "the other site":
Report from Momo:NEW ORDER' s 4CD Boxset called "IV"Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream, Mike Pickering, John Mc Cready, Miranda Soya selected the song.
John Mc Cready? Miranda Soya? Who the f**k are them?
Do they perhaps mean Miranda Sawyer, 'I love the 1980's' type media-bint who seems to have something to do with the band in recent times ?

Exactly ! thought I'd play along with the phonetics for a while longer though. Spoilsport !!!

Who mistakes Regret for Republic and asks the band on 316 about why it got such bad press when it was released, much to their confusion?
Hmmm. Knows her New Order, does Miranda.

A mellow guy who thinks he can do a 'fuck you' to the entire UK cos we [ahem] 'harbour' Muslims?! I would hate to see you when you're not mellow.
Anyways, I think there's a few people here - the likes of 1645hrs, etc - who get their info ahead of most New Order related websites on the net. So this is always the first place I'll pop in on my travels.

no Jarvo...he is very mellow...he just didn't like MY atitude...now be careful, or he'll have his lawyer after you as well...besides, can't you tell, English isn't his native language, so I think he sometimes just has trouble trying to say what he really means...

Miranda Sawyer! Yes, I knew it sounded familiar. She was editor of Smash Hits for a while, wasn't she? Pedigree....
So that's Blue Monday, True Faith and BLT splattered all over every CD, with remixes galore, live versions, enhanced DVDs, fookin' sheet music (sic) and all kinds of gubbins, and absolutely nothing of interest to anyone who would otherwise buy the product.
Why am I deeply saddened by the choice of track selectors ?

Miranda Sawyer wrote for the NME for a number of years in the late-80s. She also was involved in cutting-edge/embarrassing forays into yoof TV, such as the still much-missed "Snub TV" and the dire, patronising "Reportage". Still crops up on late-nite art progs on BBC2 and C4 now and again.
Infotainment over, like other commentators I can't understand why the band haven't chosen the tracklisting......???????
huntsmen,
i have never been to new order web, what is this?
what does plies his trade mean?
thanks
Say what you like aboot Miranda Sawyer but you can't deny that she's a big ride. I'd tackle her no problem!
Ed ... after you mentioned you were a calm sort of character with little interest for scraping I headed for neworderweb thinking it would be a mellow area full of NO likes smoking reefers and getting with the trees. Unfortunately it was like wandering into a full on war.
For instance, here's a thread I've just looked at (in order to provide a 'live' example):
Posted by Stinky Cabbage ... KYLIE IS A MINGING KANT!
I hate that skinny chicken-dipper-featured no-talent bitch. She dances like she's never had a good shag for years and her skin looks like latex dipped in baby oil.....
Someone give the bint a good kicking - preferably back down the wind tunnel of time to 1988 where she focking well belongs.
Ripping off the worst New Order song ever isn't cool - it's just fuggin desperate. Shane McGowan should give her a shag.
... So I then realised neworderweb wasn't the place you plied your trade (you ventured with hopes of meeting likeminded folk with similar interests) but if you did want to go their and kick some 'ass (be prepared) then here's the link ...

So the thingie is called "IV"... as in "this boxed-set contains FOUR discs". It's great to notice NO are keeping the "naff titles" path!

Sorry for the lustful lapse - yeah, why didn't they stick with "Recycle": snappy and knowingly cynical.
So does this make the "Recycle" t-shirt I picked up at Reading '98 redundant. Or a collectors item for a release-that-never-was????

Her brother(Toby Sawyer)played Baz the bisexual in Hollyoaks - FACT! :D
Aye, she's a crackin' lookin lass. Another one I quite like is that bird that does Breakfast Time on BBC 1. Can't remember her name but she's late 20's with light brown hair and quite a round face. Tasty in a "yer mate's big sister" way.
Top TV totty at the mo though has to be that Kate Thornton one. Dynamite!
Does anyone else fancy Alice Beers from Watchdog/Holiday?
Call me pessimistic if you want but everything we are slowly learning about the box makes me feel as if we are in for a massive let down.

Perhaps he'll reappear at some point. We can only hope.
Given that the as-yet-untitled Finsbury DVD is out 11.11.02, do we not think it unlikely that "Recycle"/"IV"/"Miranda's Marvellous Box" will be in the shops 4.11.02.
Can't see them releasing two high-profile Order items within seven days of each other, can you?

Then again this thread is getting so surreal that you probably were just pulling my leg and the irony passed me by, I honestly don't know if New Order are releasing a special edition Star Wars sponsored box of beers or whether there is a transgenic Soya bean named after them.
Whatever...

The fact that she's dead posh is perhaps her only redeeming feature. Filthy in the sack, allegedly. Posh birds. Can't see the attraction meself. Good surname though.

Hi Hub: two points -
Alice Beers: Don't. Even. Go. There.
Yes, the Miranda-thing was a poor joke based around the linguistic slippage between the New Order "box" and Miranda Sawyer's vagina; "box" being a crass colloqualism for aformentioned genital region.
Thanks for your time and understanding. It won't happen again.
Thanks Jarvo! I am with you on this, she looks like someone in an advert for conservatories. She probably drives a Volvo Station Wagon, too.
