Weird... they think NO is "boring". Wonder what people will be thinking of Ms. Gaga in 30 years time!

If they really are cheap maybe us NOOLers could book them to do a wee show of our own. And maybe we could get them to do an all b-sides or album tracks gig as an alternative to the slick setlist they're currently touting around the world...

Im surprised they're cheap, if thats accurate, or maybe thats just how I perceive them. In the real world perhaps 'cheap' is the value of New Order, er, now. If so that makes me sad.

BTW what a wank forum, thousands of posts about festivals?

I love festivals, over a thousand postsfrom me alone

Great website for finding out the best way to get there, where to stay, how not to get ripped off, who to expect playing and why folks won't be.

If you don't like it, don't use it. :P

What interests me is that the price is low but the slots are high. They seam to be going for the headlines rather than the money, and headlines at a 50,000 festival is not a bad slot. Even at T, they are headlining the king tuts tent, which is massive and usually by the headliner and the caliber of the act, it gets closed out some time before they appear.

They might be taking this fee due to the fact that they are also allowed to tour, there do not appear to be any clauses attached to their festival contracts (a no appearance clause usually appears for higher feed bands sometimes for 3 months either side of the festival but the glasgow and edinburgh gigs this hasn't happened.)So they may have got more, but cos they want to tour, they haven't.

I saw Florence for nowt back in...cripes 2007, at this free festival: 1234 shoreditch I think she got paid in ham sandwiches and warm lemonade that day. Wouldn't have predicted a £500k fee back then.

Saw Hooky do UP at that 18 months ago.

Wasn't free then though. Nice little festival.

How did some of these acts become as big as they did? I just don't understand.

Most of the names mean jack shit to me anyway.....

For instance, who the hell is Florence, and what the fuck is The Machine?

Florence and the Machine are an extremely popular indie rock band whose albums have both gone Top 10. They are one of the most popular newer bands, and are often compared to Kate Bush. They are pretty good.

I did the US Radio and Club Promotion campaign for their recent single "Shake It Out" (the dance remixes) and it went to Number 3 in the Billboard Dance Charts.

Why listen to Florence when you can listen to Kate Bush?

Really...........you shouldn't have gone to all the trouble.....

;)

I know all about them, I've seen them and heard them (esp their cover of The Source ft. Candi Staton's "You Got The Love" [with that immortal line 'sometimes I feel like throwing my pants up in the air' - you go Flo - give it your all, disrobe yerself whilst you're singin' we don't mind!!!])...and they're bobbins!

Florence and the Machaayyyyyyyyyne!!!

I agree, and Kate is better.

As a rule I don't think Florence and the Machine are all that much cop. But I think the song Cosmic Love is a classic actually worthy of Kate Bush back in the day! That's the song I would remember Florence and the Machine for. Dog Days are Over is quite good, too :music:

:confused2: anyway, shouldn't it be cheap at twice the price? reminds me of a guy who described a favourite album of the moment to me in glowing terms such as "each track better than the the next".
