The Light goes Off Down Under: Cancelled Gigs.

Due to unforseen production issues, Solid Entertainment and Ticketmaster regretfully want to notify you of the cancellation of the two shows "Closer" and "Unknown Pleasures" – A Joy Division Celebration which were scheduled to take place at Bar Bodega on the 18th and 19th of April 2012 and Studio on the 20th of April 2012.

For further information Solid Entertainment has released the following official statement from Peter Hook and The Light.

Peter Hook And The Light have been forced to postpone their upcoming dates across Australia and New Zealand in April 2012 due to production circumstances which were beyond the band's control.

Hooky and The Light would like to apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment of the thousands of fans who had purchased tickets in advance for their second visit to Australasia and we are hopeful that the dates are to be rescheduled for late 2012 or early 2013.

The band would like to thank all our Antipodean friends for their continued support and we look forward to having the opportunity to play for you again soon.

To be fair, New Zealand shows were sold out and all meet and greets were sold out.

No question of the shows being a 'sell-out', btw!

Gutted about this, but it's not our fault, and there was absolutely nothing we could do in the end.

I'm sure all the NOOL comedians will be in here like rats up a drainpipe with their frankly hilarious musings (Edit - I see they already are..) but let me just say, to have gone almost 2 years on the road without cancelling anything (Japanese dates rescheduled due to the earthquake/tsunami issue aside), I think that's pretty good. It's not as if Bad Lieutenant didn't cancel America enough times is it... These things happen, all our other gigs are unaffected.

Already looking at new dates, see ya soon

It is a bit tricky for the warm up act to go to New Zealand and Austraila when the Headliners have already been out there!

What were you expecting? I take no joy out of the predictable debacle a standard, bitter Hooky interview has come. I get no pleasure out of hearing that a man I used to admire is touring old music endlessly instead of doing something new. I get nothing positive out of the fact that he is sitting on a record of songs I would love to hear and blocking their release to gain some kind of middling leverage over estranged musicians. Instead of thinking we're simple predictable haters, ask why? I've not seen one shred of self-awareness from Camp Hooky recently. Just angry vitriol, and business ventures to make money out of something that doesn't exist anymore.

Joy Division trainers? Limited edition T-shirts with jokes about New Order on? Selling fragments of masonry and reproduction guitars with yellow vinyl 10" EP's at £450? What kind of shit is this? What next? Plastic replicas of the tomb from the front of Closer numbered and signed? A 14th anniversary tour of "Twisted Tenderness"? Why doesn't Hooky come on here and explain his current business strategy instead of slinging accusations at people through newspapers?

production issues would suggest problems with the rig or venues id imagine.

i also know from experience from playing live that a 1001 things can go wrong and compounding that is the thought about people not turning up. so some quarter should be given on this occasion.

Are they planning on a Bomber lighting rig? I know Motorhead had some bother with one of those.

I reckon the "production issues" relate to the production of evidence in court - i.e. there is a clash of dates with going to court and flying down under - hence cancellation.

The dates are postponed, not cancelled. Sorry to disappoint everyone, but it has nothing to do with New Order's recent tour, or any Peter Hook interview that may have rubbed up any fans here the wrong way.

Only Australia and New Zealand have been postponed, no other shows. Everything else is as usual.
