Anyone heard this before, dare I put a link up to it on Youtube as it was done for a charity album.

Just heard it for the first time today, wasn't aware of it. Not bad.

it is as great as the 'turn the heater on' cover , and the 'can't find my way home' cover. each original is iconically connected to its writer,or singer ; yet, with bernard's version being so good the likelihood of ever wanting to listen to keith hudson's or elvis presley's version is remote. i love winwood and his classic, but i've never heard it all day long. bernard is one of god's gifts to us. may he live long and continue to surpass.

Bernard/Bad Loo/New Order3.0 needs a "covers" album. Everyone else does one when they get over 50 and get less inspired to write original material. Why not? Bernard obviously wants to do these 60s/70s type of singer songwriter songs. Go for it, seriously. Good way to have fun and not take yourself too seriously at this point.

In the ghetto and higher wider deeper are two of st Bernard's finest vox in recent years (in my book). Love both.

Oh my god.....so that bit in the World In Motion video with Bernard prancing about in an Elvis suit was not just a red herring apropos of nothing after all. It was a sign of things to come.

What is shocking is not just that Bernard's version sounds unironic, but the backing female vocals are actually quite good and appropiate.

I have that one on the Never Cry Another Tear album. It was a bonus track here. As for 'In the Ghetto'...I don't mind Bernard's vocals, but I don't like the song in itself. (I did like the 'Can't find my way home' cover by Electronic, however).

Kinda agree with in the ghetto. For me it's the backing vocals that ruin it.

What was so good about him? I mean, he never wrote a single one of his many hits. That's quite astonishing really. But not in a good way either.

I still love Nick Cave's version, but BS sings this really really well... in fact I wish it was just him and a guitar on this one.

Anyway I bought the compilation last night. A few good songs on it. Ian Brown track is massive.

What's next? A cover of Mrs. Robinson or Surf's Up?
