Amoeba Music is a small chain (3 locations) of music stores in California. I'm not sure why they waited so long to post that interview.
He showed up there the 15th of September to be exact... think he showed up so he could sign records for my birthday....

In one scene, the interviewer asks him about the keyboards on Closer; whose idea was it to elevate it in the mix etc and Hooky credits Bernard for that. Hooky says, 'I've never been interested in keyboards. I hate them', but he admits the songs on Closer 'lend themselves more to keyboards'.

He hates them and yet Revenge and Monaco records were chock full of them!

i liked that interview. perhaps Hooky doesn't like dealing with keyboards/synths himself, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like the sound of them.

I suspect this is er "closer" to the truth. He clearly does value keyboards in the mix because virtually every album he's done inside and outside of New Order over the past 25 years has had some synthetic element present. Even the Freebass album has synthy bits buried behind the walls of bass guitar.
I think he means he doesn't like writing on keyboards instead preferring the bass which to be honest is no huge shock.
At the time of M4P Hookster said he liked listening to electronic music but not playing it, whilst for Pottsy the reverse was true. Electronics have been fundamental in pretty much every record he's made since Closer, surely?
Maybe he prefers a jam session instead of programming beats and using synths (when he writes music), but doesn't mind playing his bass over songs that use synths and programmed beats/parts.
