anyone know the origins of "let's go"?

i always thought it was just an instrumental track since i have the salvation soundtrack...and i surprised to find that it actually had vocals.

i know you could find it on one of the best ofs, but before that, where could you have find this song?

As far as I know, it was a song they wrote years ago, they would play it live and Barney would try to add words to it, but it never seemed to work out. Then when Salation came along, New Order was asked to give some music tracks for the soundtrack, so Lets go was one of the songs they gave, because I think they just gave up on making it a regular song. Then in 1995 Arther really liked the song, and he asked Barney if they could finish it. Well New Order were not on very good terms at the time so only Barney and Arther worked on it. And that became the complete version.

I guess Barney and Arther were fighting alot at the time. Arther said that is why Barney made the words so mean.

The song was written at the end of 1984 and debuted at Edinburgh Caley Palais on 6/2/85. It was played live around 50 times as an instrumental. It was recorded for Low Life with vocals and left off because it sounded shit. They then had another go at adding vocals to it and gave up trying to get it right, putting out the "Nothing To Me" version instead. The Salvation version is more faithful to the live track. We may yet get to hear it again live !

Along the same lines, I'm sure I read somwhere that Skullcrusher/Solitude was a leftover track from PC&L. Anyone any ideas where it came from ? Likewise, Murder, as it sounds like it was written pre-84 ?

Skullcrusher falls into the same category as Let's Go. Written for LowLife but abandoned when it went wrong in the studio. It was played live on half a dozen occasions during 1984, with vocals.

... what about the 'best' 'Let's Go' version, the bootleg with 'Do it with an Ostrich' and 'TBTHOGodfrey'.

An outstanding NO song and no surprise it 'almost' made Low Light. I wish it had (as an addition) - utterly stupendous. Odd that neither of them liked it enough to use it and then went on to thoroughly blow its teeth out with the naff-box 'Salavator' effort followed by the rhubarb 'Best Of' mistake.

My favourite version is the 'Low-Life' demo with lyrics. The Salvation version and the (nothing for me) version, done as the bait for the American 'Best Of', are both duffers. But what the fuck do I know??
