Oh, this is tough...strictly from 86 down, or there abouts: Queen is Dead (Smiths) The Bends (Radiohead) Songs For Drella (Lou Reed/John Cale) Nevermind (Nirvana) Morning Glory (Oasis) Republic (New Order) If You're Feeling Sinister (Belle and Sebastian) Substance (New Order..technically a compilation, but it works as well as an album, to me at leaset) Different Class (Pulp) Kid A (Radiohead) Past Masters 1 and 2 (Beatles --again, a comp., but a damn sight better than "1") Pinkerton (Weezer) That's about all I can think of this early in the morning. There's no order to it, just a random selection of what i think are the best from my own collection
Best albums of the last 15 years? gosh, everyone have their own list, and I must say, there is plenty I've never even heard of!
How is it possible to do such a list without forgetting a lot of albums? This is up to my memory for the moment, I'm sure I'm missing a lot of things there.
Problem with "Technique" for instance, is I bought it like in 1994, 5 years after its release, so it doesn't do the same as buying it when it's released. Same goes for U2, I didn't care much about them in 1987 but was a huge fan in 1991.
Again, this is the best album, for me a good album is something with all good tracks.. I could have put some REM albums in there, but I never managed to like ALL songs on an album from them...
So, difficult choices!!
Technique - New Order (Manchester, England) Pocket Universe - Yello (where in Switzerland?) Get Ready - New Order (Manchester, England) George Best - The Wedding Present (Leeds, England) Leftism - Leftfield (England) Promise Nothing - Virginia Astley (London, England) The Ukrainian album - The Wedding Present (Leeds, England) Henry's Dream - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (Australia, Germany, England) Mysteries of America - Anna Domino (Belgium) Universal Mother - Sinead 'O Connor (Ireland) Una certa proporzione/Looking for a certain ratio - A Certain Ratio (Manchester, England) Pigs & battleships - Quando Quango (Manchester, England) Oceania - S.P.K (Belgium, The Netherlands & New Zealand) The Queen is Dead - The Smiths (Manchester, England)
the list neworder -technique -get ready -republic-low life the fall -the infotainment scan the auteurs -new wave -how i learned to love the bootboys morrissey - vauxhall and i -maladjusted blur -blur -13 suede -coming up ian brown -monkey business the smiths - the queen us dead/ strangeways... pulp-different class-his n hers lightning seeds- jollification electronic -electronic-twisted tenderness monaco -monaco -music for.... the charlatans -tellin stories supergrass -in it for the money saint ettien-too young to die
ooops 15 years, then of course "Low life" should be included in the list above.
Dear Masters of the board!
..have a French L.P. that communicates "Les Tueurs de lune de miel" Can you please tell me what that means in English?
The Honeymoon Killers just can't communicate?

It was a Belgian Band. And it's inspired by a cult film called The Honeymoon Killers.
WORLD OF TWIST-QUALITY STREET CHICANE-FAR FROM THE MADDENING CROWD ONE DOVE-MORNING DOVE WHITE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON-ACCELERATOR DEEP DISH -JUNK SCIENCE
All the above IMO had strong single releases and aren't let down by the rest of the album.

I see you have selected Selected Ambient Works Vol II.having been a fan of vol I and to a lesser extent the Surfing on Sine Waves LP I Purchased Vol II and to this day have not found any semblence of music on it.I just don't get it at all.I still own it and play it occasionally just see if my original perception has altered.Anyone else a fan? I'm still not sure what speed to play it on.
re myself:
Pull yourself together, man! It's 16 years since "Low life", not 15.
Btw, the same year as Ofra Haza released her "Yemenite songs" with "Im nin alu".

I reckon Vol II as revolutionary rock album, something like Gustav Mahler for symphonic music. One my friend described it as music in deep diving submarine. As for me I use it (with Scotch whisky) as background for chess games with my friends.
