Behind Closed Doors B -side

I really like this non-LP song form the Crystal single, I, at least, prefer this Arthur Baker production style to the overkill production style by Osbourne of Get Ready.

also "Behind Closed Doors" has a more serious tone, unlike the, to me, often very shallow superfiscial tone of Get Ready. But, does Bernard sound like he has a speech impediment at the beginning of the song?

talking of B-sides... is the 2002 World in Motion new B-side worth the bother?

are you kidding? i didn't like behind closed doors, and it sounded trite to me. it's riddled with cliches about the going-wrongs of people's lives. and admiting you listen to the corrs on a song is just sad.

I love Behind Closed Doors. Musically, it is very reminiscent of Cries & Whispers. Probably the best song from the Get Ready sessions, imho, although the "listen to the Corrs" line sounds a little cheap. But the "it's like honey, you can't buy it with money" line from Crystal does as well, and so do the lyrics of most songs in Get Ready.

I agree, really like BCD. (Better than Such A Good Thing...) I'd quite like to see the new album - due for release in autumn 2017 - follow a similar sort of style and mood.

And come on, get a sense of humour, the Corrs line is Barney genius...

Its cack! Horrible vocals and leave-it-to-the-computer style music. Yuk.

I think Behind Close Doors should have been on Get Ready as it is as good if not better than 60MPH, Turn My Way and Vicious Streak though not as good as Crystal. Sadly, the songs I have not mentioned from Get Ready like Slow Jam, Someone Like You, etc, have all proved to be rather forgettable.

Regarding the 'Listen to the Corrs' lyric, I think it was written tongue in cheek and I'm a bit worried some of the above contributers have not cottoned onto this. ie I am implying they are a bit thick.

IMO Behind closed doors is a great song. Great production work by Baker who IMAO should produce next NO album. Not too worried about the Coors line (there are far worse lyrics in Get Ready)

At the moment "Player in the league" is my favourite Get Ready sessions song. "Such a good thing" is nice but instantly forgettable pop.

i agree about the Corrs lyric. It's obvious to me that Bernard is speaking in character as if he were this person fed up with living in the city, isolated in his room watching footy and listening to adult contemporary on the hi-fi. It's a very good song and available as track 11 on the Japanese issue of Get Ready.....

now about those "thick" implications.....somebody give him a yellow card

Re: Behind Close Doors. I actually thought the first part of the song was sung by Peter Hook rather than Barney, cos it didn't sound very much like Bernard's vocals there. I have a Revenge single somewhere on a free tape (can't remember the title - something to do with "Girls in Trouble" ?) and even there his voice sounds like Barneys...

... 'The Trouble with Girls'. Aahh, the best Revenge song! - well, the re-mix on the 'Factory' promo cassette circa early nineties was. Most curious of songs. This particular cassette had the NO BLT Stevey Hague re-mix on (in fact, wasn't this the 'only' version which Barney 'do, do, de, do do do'd' after chorus 1? - beautiful!), some Cath Carol pefunctory mock_Blondie efforts and a couple of Happiest Moon Day re-mixes. Cassette cover displaying several metallic indentations (why not).

Hooky sounding like Bernard on 'The Trouble with Ladies'? ... mmm, can't identify that one myself. Big B on the beginning of Shut Them Doors is simply whispering to the mic. like an eagle carescing it's mate. Whereas Hooky retains growl status regardless of gig - maybe the additional production sweetened the deal.

Doors though, shame they never retained the production and developed the song structure. Nice song, shame about the structure. (Kind of fizzles out - think roman candle that peaked too early, or sparkler that sprang to life but was dropped onto sodden grass).

I like it - nice song, goods lyrics, sounds remind me of some of the 80's tracks.

I like the song very much. Top tune for a B-side. It should have been included on "Get Ready" (non Japan versions of course)
