I was watching Taras the other day and it got me thinking..

what early versions of Temptation exist where Barney hadnt quite yet written the lyrics, and how different are such versions from the attempt that was made at Taras ?

I have a few bootlegs from early 82, but to be truthful there's not too much difference Mr Brasco.....if you ask Baldy nicely, he might send you a couple of copies, I know fer certain I have Athens and Norwich 82 and Milan as well I think;)

Later version - Hacienda June 87, I think? - where Barney's in a strop and trying to get everyone to 'sing a long now!'.

Classic.

Barney looks off his nut during Temptation on Taras. Best bit bit on the whole vid though is when he shoots Gillian that look of doom during Ceremony when she gets her guitar part all out of time. Quality.

Actually I prefer the bit on "PFD" where he "politely" asks the sound engineer to turn down the PA sound (or something...)!

Early Temptation featured exactly the same tune, but was an instrumental. Lyrics(!)appeared around October 81, but the US 81 tour didn't vary much lyrically. I'll dig some out for you. Early 82 was much the same, then one day........the light was seen !

temptation it had so much going for it... and then it turned in to a singalong

"ive never met anyone as fucked as you before..."

I love the Taras version myself, especially the mic almost electrocuting poor Barney!

I would love to find a gig with the same "early" lyrics, but it's not a priority
