I think live, the song will sound a lot more like your version, and it's great there are 'acoustic' songs on the album and it won't all be like a chemical brothers remix type thing!!! Cheers for the link
Hooky's basslines have always been pretty simple technically- any beginner can play them pretty easily. His originality was never about the technical complexity though, it was about the effects, the higher register, the legato rhythm, the octave drones, the role of the bass in relation to the other instruments. No one before Hooky had ever really used the bass in a melodic role so it was a really novel sound when JD/NO first came about.
