Good stuff. 6Music had been going on the last few days about revealing the line up today and it did cross my mind that NO could well be in there this year. Isn't this thing usually available on the red button and all that?
Very cool. Looks like it will be a 7 song performance rather than the full set list. (if it's the same as last year) It will be great to hear in high quality and the songs will be filmed professionally which is also nice.
Best of luck you guys in the UK going for ballot tickets.
Aren't these 6Music Maida Vale things often during the day? Or even in the morning to sync with the radio show it's going out live from? I won't be attending but will want to record the TV which could be tricky as it will be on the red button and I'll be at work in the day. How do you record or set to record the red button? Actually if it is broadcast live on Lauren Laverne's show it will be in the morning or lunchtime . Her show is 10am til 1 pm.
Bernard was on the phone to Lauren Laverne on her show this morning after she made the announcement.Said NO will be doing festivals next year and have rehearsed 3 of the new songs for the November gigs. Underworld did this thing last year. It was on a loop on the BBC red button for about 24 hours following the live broadcast (radio & online with visuals). It eventually ended up on Youtube:

Yeah i saw (some of) Underworld last year on the red button.Also La Roux were great.Orbital were good a year or two ( or maybe more? time goes so quickly) previously as well.

Been playing about with the image for this as want to create an album in my iTunes (and add to phone) of the gig once i've captured the audio. Squared the original so it sits square and in sync with all the other artwork in my iTunes . Added the album cover artwork (squashed down, admittedly, yeah) but at the moment am getting jagged effect on the black lines, hoping to fix that if i can.It's a work in progress Any ideas or tips welcome.

There'll be some sort of interview I'd think though that may just be available on the red button later. When La Roux played the thing last year there was a break half way through and she took questions from the audience so maybe something like that ?

Though you can just listen but not watch to the whole thing later on 6Music website. I can record the whole audio that's not a problem as have set tv box to record the radio (i'll be at work when it's on)

I think you're almost right. BUT I watched Leftfield on Monday live on the Red Button - the whole thing. So rather than set your TV recorder box to record the radio, you can probably record the whole thing (inc visuals) from the red button. I did so with Leftfield (as well as watching it live). Of course tranferring that from your TV box to Youtube could be a bit tricky, assuming you still aim to quietly upload it to youtube...

I don't think New Order are going out live on the red button. According to the schedule on my Freesat box, they are showing the Formula 1 practice session instead.
New Order are only down to be shown in a highlights package at 7pm. Whether we'll get the whole set or not, I don't know.
Bugger, yeah just looked on Virgin Media bbc red button for tomorrow- yeah it's Formual 1 practice sesh. If it is just the highlights of New Ordet we can get to see later on red button it'd be kind of frustrating as they are then repeated constantly nearly all weekend - highlights on a loop but not actually the whole set!
Monday 12th October red button is listing as showing 12-1PM New Order at 6Music. Maybe that will be the whole set after the highlights are looped all weekend

No, those two plus another three.
We're doing "Restless," "People on the Highline" and "Tutti Fruiti." And also "Singularity" and "Plastic" which are on the album but we were performing on our last tour. Still pretty new though.

I can easily record the highlights and transfer to laptop.But anyway, i think someone somewhere will be able to capture the whole set,one hour of video when it's streamed live on the BBC 6Music website.I'm not that technologically advanced yet to know how to do that ( you can do it with VLC is that correct?) and won't be at home to do it even if i knew how.
New email mentions that there may be a special guest.I'd put my money on it being Brandon Flowers.Though it could be Iggy i suppose.Wouldn't have thought it'd be Elly Jackson as she played the thing last year and appearing again might be a bit of outstaying her welcome although if Tutti Frutti is one of the songs they've prepared for the tour it could be her.

Rehearsals for the tour I mean. I don't have any info about what they have or haven't rehearsed for Maida Vale. The rehearsal for the tour info came from one of the interviews, can't recall which one.

Update, 34 mins in. I think it's a bit weird they way they have to tease everyone by having all this other stuff instead of New Order. It's hardly worth tuning in to, but I suspect they'll cut to some questions between this stuff so I am determined to stay on the stream.

You havent missed anything....apparently NO coming on only at 12noon....so basically you have to put up with listening to other artistes for 2 hours!!!😕
Lauren mentioned at 10pm that NO will be on at 11pm....then at 11pm she said NO will be on at 12noon.. 💀 ...but she did say we'll be listening to Barney chatting a bit prior....😈

well the band just made an appearance so so much for that.
Bernard looking pretty cool in shades looking down and speaking in a relaxed voice. Gillian seemed a little impatient. Couple simple questions we've already read in interviews.
Bernard chatting for a few minutes about this and that - others are on the stage ready to play.
Live music begins at 12. Stream seems stable. Screenflow set up :)
Singularity sounded great, far more confident vocal than when they debuted it live. Probably helps that its being played live in a studio and there is no crowd noise over the top. Have really liked the re-worked 586 - I think its one of this lineups best live tracks.

When they get to the end of the set, if you put your cursor on the pink slider thing at the bottom of the screen you can rewind to 12.00 and watch it all again (I think)

Chuffed with how this is sounding. Only Restless was a struggle, but Singularity 586 BLT and the two Elly tracks have been spot on.

The whole album sounds as if they were enjoying themselves. This hour - and hopefully the upcoming tour - has continued in the same vein.

Yeah they've been doing the Street Hassle intro to Temptation since about 2011 I think. Personally I think it discourages the crowd from singing the "ooohs" when they do that live. And I don't think the crowd should be discouraged from the "ooohs".

well there's the gig. What does everyone think? I am a bit underwhelmed to be honest. The mix wasn't as good as the previous night, and the old songs sounded exactly the same as they did in 2012. They should remix them a little to freshen things up, at least use new samples. Restless I was looking forward to, but we couldn't here the strings and the song was played very fast. Lots of bands do that, play songs faster live, like 1.5x times speed. I don't get it. It doesn't sound good, it doesn't keep the musical flow. It's like they want to just get it over with. La Roux's voice was louder than Bernard's for the following songs. This was poorly mixed IMO. Nothing to write home about.
I wish the band will freshen up their entire setlist by either remixing "old" (as in they've performed since the reunion) songs, or replacing them with unperformed and rare songs. I've heard so many bootlegs and videocam recordings of their gigs from 2012 and 2013 that there isn't much special about seeing them live if they're going to do the same things.

This was their first gig of 2015. it's October. They've had plenty of time to freshen things up but it all sounded too similar for me.
I love Bernard's slightly different vocals BLT though.

Yikes, were they trying to embarrass the group / Bernard by playing the disastrous intro to Age of Consent from BBC '84 as a throwback clip in the middle of the interview? Humor aside, who wants a cringeworthy moment like that before playing a live set full of new tracks? Thought Bernard handled it well by joking about his shorts.

Definitely not a standard NO gig but more like a live radio session in front of 200 people. I think there 4 or 5 people dancing in "Temptation." Which was most bizarre. They played well, the new stuff - especially "Tutti Frutti" and "People On The High Line" sounded great live : good to hear (and see) bum notes played live on "Blue Monday" and elsewhere. Give them a more responsive crowd and there will be great nights ahead. Also, I think this is the first New Order show since 1993 in the UK where they haven't played *any* JD material?

Wow, just listened to the audio of the full set.They sounded really really good, I wasn't so sure when i caught the last 25 minutes of the video stream on the way home but i did have crap iPhone earphones on and it kept buffering.Great idea to start with Singularity; it was really energetic and lively and a statement of intent. Bernard's vocals were top notch.Fantastic playing by all.Thought i'd be bored with 586 but i wasn't , it even sounded slightly different though the arrangement was the same, maybe the sound production gave it a different feel.Great to hear Restless live for the first time; i thought Bernard's vocals were ok if maybe a tiny bit nervy yeah but not as bad as i thought they'd be after reading a few peoples comments that he lost it a bit on this one in this live set.BLT was ok but Tutti Frutti soon followed and was ace .Was there a slight change of lyric from the album version by Bernard on one or two lines in this? Still a bit gutted the fricking Formula 1 Practice Session bollocks was on the red button instead of the live stream of the greatest band in the world.I would have been able to record it and see the whole set. All week each band that has played Maida Vale has been live on the red button but come to New Order's turn and they're replaced by shitty motor racing. God it's getting like Points Of View this.Anyway, looking forward to the 30 minutes of highlights tonight.Really hope Singularity and Tutti Frutti are included but i suspect most of it will be taken up by True Faith, Blue Monday and Temptation to please the passing average viewer.
Bernard ran out of breath during BLT - definitely 'real' and 'live'. They all seemed in good spirits. Gillian was pulling faces at the crowd during Bluer Montag when BS hogged the kayboards.

I work from home so I diligently set up my Hard Drive recorder to record the audio from the gig from Radio 6 on my Virgin box onto my Hard Drive Recorder.
At the same time I was able to watch the live stream of the video on my PC as it handily coincided with my lunch break.
......reminded me of the day in 1984 as a 17 year old I came home one sunny afternoon to record Rock around the Clock on Radio One FM on my Aiwa Cassette Deck to a TDK SA90 tape...
.....whilst watching the BBC TV broadcast and recording it to my old timers Betamax Video Machine !
....that feeling of excitement hasn't changed in over 30 years !!!

Totally agree - I can remember that day like the day JFK died - I was fishing with some mates at a scabby canal in Leicester it was beautiful weather - but still shocked by the budgie smuggler shorts that Barney was wearing !!!

Wow.Phew! Just watched the highlights.They more than made up for missing most of the live stream earlier.Still on a high after a magnificent Temptation.WOW.
Thought it was only going to be half an hour so 45 minutes i'm more than happy with! Really glad and relieved they included Tutti Frutti.People On The High Line too! It was getting close to the end of half an hour and what i thought would be the end and i couldn't believe they hadn't included BM and Temptation so i was elated when it carried on past the half hour mark and those 2 songs were then aired.

Recorded the highlights and copied them over to laptop with the kit but have got a fairly loud annoying hum.It's from the video line . Trying to work out how to solve this and then re copy over.Something to do with ground loop causing interference apparently.Can't get rid of the hum😕 [ohwel l]

Like many other fans at 12pm on a Friday I was unable to listen to the live feed due to being at work so was greatly looking forward to sitting down tonight with the BBC Red Button catch-up in order to record my own personal boot. Regrettably for some reason the Beeb opted to completely bastardise the performance on Red Button omitting Singularity/5-8-6/BLT and fucking around with the song order. Why they had some tech edit it down just seems a total waste of time. The iPlayer version is the complete audio performance but the quality makes it sound like it was recorded in a bathroom. Oh well.
At any rate, I really enjoyed the band's performance... ropey Restless vox and all... very much looking forward to the November shows.
The fact is, it was a very inanimate, pedestrian performance. Such serious faces! Very very strong musically though. The new songs came across really well, especially People On The High Line, a personal favourite. BLT very disappointing to me. The rest, magic! BM, TF, and Temptation particularly so. Anyway, ho-hum!
I remember as a teenager I used to sit in the vestibule entrance to the close (tenement block) we lived in with my 'ghetto blaster' (lol) pumping out PCL at full volume. The way it echoed up the stairwell sounded amazing. Other worldly!....................................... One night, particularly late, the so called 'daddy' of the building came charging out with an un-nervingly menacing look on his weathered old fizzog. (Face). I thought my goose was cooked! Felt certain my number was up! Was convinced the eye in the sky would soon be welcoming me into his arms with aforementioned 'ghetto blaster' firmly rammed right up my teenage cake maker! Imagine my delight when all he said was, 'turn it doon a bit son, or i'll need to gi' ye a slap!.................... By the way, whit's that song called? That's no bad that!'. I told him it was 5-8-6 by New Order. He muttered something about Status Quo that I didn't quite catch 'cos I was busy turning down the volume, and off he trotted. Schooled! lol. Funny enough though, the second half of PCL does sound better if you take it down a notch or two. Thanks Johnny!
Twas able to catch the live audio but being at work with my admin off I had only enough time to listen to Tutti Fruitti and POTHL. Impressed!
Big thank you to Andy for the Dime link. Wifey was obvious to my non desire to go out to eat when i was downloading that and also the fact that the vinyl and CD of Lost Sirens arrived that day as well. But I figured leaving the house would time for my wine to chill and we could watch the gig when we returned.
As far as the quality of the Dime score...too bass heavy (low frequencies) but otherwise fine. The camera was loving Phil for sure which was ok because he had a few tricks up his sleeve for the gig. Never did get to the bottom of Gillian's outfit (what did it say?).
Had to download the VLC player to watch it.
Wondering if they will lengthen the show or drop the JD encore.

Of course it was 'pedestrian'... because it was 12.00 noon in a small 1960's studio with no alcohol, performing several new songs, to about 200 people.. well, I certainly felt very well behaved as the rest of the crowd were probably 10% excited and 90% "OhmyI'mseeingNewOrderinatinyplace". If the show was at 10pm at the Camden Barfly, the crowd would've been a lot rowdier.

I took the videofile from Dime, and "demuxed" it into one videofile and one audiofile, then I took your mp3, and "pasted" it into the audiofile from the video. With a little bit of "tweeking" I got a much better sounding audiofile, and then I remuxed the new audiofile with the videofile and got myself a better sounding video of the concert.

Really really (pleasantly) surprised that the uploads to YouTube of the gig haven't been taken down with copyright claims by the BBC.There's one or two audios of the full hour and a couple of the 45 minute video of the highlights knocking around on there..Just assumed that until the 30 days of being able to watch the video highlights on iplayer and the audio of the full set on 6Music's website are up the Beeb would have had the YouTube uploads blocked immediately.Or maybe there's different legal technicalities when it comes to live stuff on BBC and they can't form a case?

I made a QuickTime movie but chose not to upload to YouTube - the BBC can definitely take a video down if they want to.

May I ask, which broadcast did you download? Was it the Lauren Laverne show, and if so did you do post-processing, trimming etc and re-encode to MP3? Having had a proper good listen to this now, I have to say that it’s a blistering set. The new stuff in particular sounds amazing with some live energy behind it. Not that the album versions are bad, just that the live versions are better

Was loving Toms basswork on live restless, taking the lead geetar part and turning it into a proper bass part on the outro of the tune... well done chappy lad! The live version for me would've done with that final verse after the lush strings just to build it up, but the change in pace with the bassline sounds sweet. Wondering the reason for Tom's mic... did he add any vocals? was it to replicate the "here we go's!!!" of yonder yore?

Everytime I heard male backing vocals, Tom was singing into the mic. (I think he did some of that live in Bad Lieu as well). Sounds like that's in his CV now as well.

No Vanishing Point or Sunrise then.... but maybe a Dream Attack, EGG, Mr Disco hidden away further up the page... all conjecture i know!!

I reckon that's a list of current tracks played live, ie. 2011-2014, before they started work adding new stuff and maybe older 'new' additions.

They played Run Wild in Vancouver Canada. I think the only time with GG. I thought GG said Barney couldn't sing TLU anymore. They did try it and never made the cut.

I didn't have to show Photo ID, but it was a worry. (You're right) Lauren Laverne (You're right, I forgot) Did I have to mention U2? Well, no, but I did anyway.
You probably did meet me at Hyde Park, (10 years ago!) - though I have little recollection of that gig now, as I had a two month old and was in the 'not-sleepng-up-all-night-crying-baby' phase of my life.

Will Bernard's shades become a permanent fixture for live gigs? Can only imagine it'd be a pain in the arse wearing them in the chaos and exuberance of a full proper gig not to mention they'd keep sliding down and/or falling off. Bernard does seem quite keen on wearing them these days though. Bit odd. He almost looks like a slightly happier Lou Reed

Ha! Thanks. I saw Leftfield during the sumer at Kentish Town Forum. Other than the obvious (to me) omission of Song of Life which would have ended things on a (classic hit) high, it was indeed Basstastic. I was actually worried for the health of my intestines at one point.
Editors: I received a free copy of the new CD recently. Seems to have some good reviews. Haven't listened to it yet, mind.

Slaves: Saw them early in 2015 as part of an NME gig. Kinda fun, but for me The Fat White Family who played after them were sooo much better. Everyone should catch the Fat Whites live before the band implode or die or something.

If you have sensitive eyes, stage lights, especially for TV performances, can be quite bright and hurt your eyes, so he may have been wearing sunglasses for that reason.
When the band were interviewed at the Q Awards, on the red carpet, Bernard was also wearing sunglasses.
He does look kind of cool with them on.

Ah i remember and loved that Tiga & Zyntherius track (from around 2002 i think) but didn't know that mash up with BM version- thanks for posting.
Maybe contact lenses or even laser eye surgery would be a better idea for Bernard? Maybe he's tried those and didn't get on with them.I'm sure he could afford laser eye surgery though is it correct it only works for long sightedness or is it the other way round?
