Am i the only one who hears Nothing But A Fool as the big killer chorus quintessential New Order single??
It doesn't seem to get mentioned too much in the reviews either, but for me it's the best song on there
But back to the question - it's pretty awesome that almost every song could be a hit single (in the old-fashioned sense)
Apart from Stray Dog - which if it didn't have Iggy on it, would have been a Player In The League style throwaway instrumental b-side
Compared to Republic which starts with one killer single, and then feels like they sequenced the rest of the album in order of how bad the songs got
I always quite liked Player In The League. One or two dodgy lyrics in it yeah but i like the song. The final minute or so outro is superb. In fact i've just had to play it as i hadn't listened to it for years. So thanks for reminding me of it
Could have just about made it onto Get Ready .As for Republic's songs declining in quality as the album goes on i think Get Ready declines even more so.Was never a massive fan of Someone Like You though i know a lot of people rate it highly.Rock The Shack, Close Range and Run Wild were all a bit meh.
As for keepitcoming's opinion that Tutti Frutti would be bigger than Blue Monday...well, yeah, in an ideal world but i don't have much faith in the British record buying public. They're too into vacuous EDM shite or dreary Sam Smith/Ed Sheeran type cack.
