WOW!

Shades of 1981. Everything they've done so far has exceeded my expectation. Restless is a good song, but I'd gotten kinda bored with it. This is totally invigorating!

Didn't do an awful lot for me on first listen but maybe that will change when i play it again when i'm in a different mood.Think i prefer the Agoria and RAC mixes.

Well I said back on the 8th of June (posts #13 & 20) that this remix sounded kind of like Underworld. And I still think it does.

Incidentally there's a guy called Tim Fairplay (or Timothy J Fariplay as he sometimes calls himself) who works with Andrew Weatherall. He may not get much of the official credit for this remix but he was actually very much involved with it. I suspect he may get a tiny mention in the credits of the CD single booklet.

I've been really looking forward to this - and it's every bit as good as I was hoping, having seen Debaser's earlier tip and having heard everything else MC related so far.

I can't say I expect much from a remix of this track. But just throwing an arpeggio and a simplified drum pattern at it is pretty underwhelming.

Regarding the remixes released so far, the RAC one is my favourite. But I still prefer the LP mix and the extended arrangement from the Japanese CD.

Very disappointed.

Did you hear what these two did to 2013 by Primal Scream? They gave it real bite. This remix is just a sloppy wet kiss. The New Order mixes are far, far better.

Terrible remix IMO. I hate them doubling vocal effect used.

All in all, rather Pointless.

I heard it, don't care for it, all remixes that we heard of Restless - except the RAC mix (Which is fantastic) are terrible. Restless has bad remixes to go with it. Rather have B-side but oh well.

Just not feeling this at all. Uninspired and flat from start to finish.

Yeah this . Just a repeating synth diddle and a new drum beat. Just not doing much for me this remix. Disappointed as I had high hopes of something really great from Wetherall.

I think you guys are missing the point. Weatherall made it sound like an outtake from the '82 Peel Sessions. It's dark and sleek - when electronic music was still experimental, and not about banging club tunes. As most of us here feel that Music Complete is a return to form from our favorite band, I feel like Weatherall pushed it even further, back to when that band first got a sequencer and a drum machine.

He doesn't, alas - on either the 12" or CD - just credits Andrew Weatherall.

Timothy J Fairplay is credited in the Mike Garry & Joe Duddell's 'St. Anthony' CD & 12"

.....off topic alert but I really like the Weatherall Remixes of St. Anthony - almost felt like I was listening to YOUR SILENT FACE dub mix [:)]

A nice idea, but if he aimed to do that, he failed.

He has done A LOT of remixes that sound like the early 80s, at their dark and minimal best… but this isn't one of them. It sounds like a 90s bedroom remix from someone with nothing to add.

The St Anthony remix mentioned is really rather good…

Yup, received this morning - not from the New Order store (although I'd ordered a separate copy from there for the slipcase - just got a notification that it's apparently been shipped).

CD single comes in a card sleeve, btw, and not a jewell case.

Ah i wondered if it'd be a card sleeve.Reminds me a bit (though i haven't got it yet) of that great card case they did for the x3 7" singles for the Waiting For The Sirens' Call single release in 2005, the idea i mean.

edit: oh sorry, read that you were talking about the singles case

Spot on with your comments and I agree with you. I think it's an awesome mix and I love that early 80's dark synth thing it's got going on. I'm looking forward to cranking it up when the vinyl arrives. I've no doubt that Tim FairPlay had a hand this. Your welcome! I'm off topic I know, I believe the finitribe vinyl was ltd to 500 copies. Let me know if need some help tracking it down. Btw are you the 50 pound note guy? I still got a few of your mixes. Hercules and Love affair is great!

My Restless vinyl arrived today and the weatherall mix does indeed sound great, they should have stuck it on the A side!
