Every time I hear "Unlearn this Hatred" I cannot help but think that the song will be their opener when they start touring...It's a GREAT song, btw...

Would be a good opener, but have they been rehearsing it? Last I'd heard they were only doing the BBC session ones plus Plastic.
Yes I agree. On my iPhone I moved it to the first song, and I think it makes the cd so much better. It's a much better start then restless is for a cd.
As for the concert, it would be interesting to hear a live version, since 95% of the song is programmed. I would love to see what Phil and Tom would add to the song. At least for 2015 we already heard all the music complete songs live, minus Plastic. I'm willing to bet we get hatred and academic in 2016 sometime.
I imagined a great opening set for the concert would be:
- Unlearn this hatred
- Singularity
- Mr. Disco
- Regret
- Restless
I could make a great setlist but this would be great start.
Sadly that won't happen. Bernard has this idea nowadays that guitar songs have to come first and then move to a more danceable set, so stuff like Mr Disco wouldn't ever be that early in the set. And seeing as it got binned in 1989, I wouldn't have money on it ever being played again!

You might have a point there.Just listened to the track again and quite enjoyed it whereas previously i hadn't.Maybe it's the song's positioning on the album that has been the problem for me.
Even on first listen to the cd, I felt hatred just didn't fit with the rest of the songs around it. Great song, but it felt like it didn't belong on the cd. But putting it first then let it go into the apple ring tone intro to restless, then restless kicks into guitar, makes it transition into the rest of the cd, nicely. And what a nice way to kick off the cd with the fasted song, and catchiest chorus on the cd.
And Tims right. My concert intro is to dance. I would like to think they might try something different and go with a 90% dance concert, but I agree and think it will be a same concert with some MC songs added.
With Phil and Tom, I would like them to try some technique songs again. Maybe with Phil's second guitar, they could add more to the songs, and sound better live?

The thing i am interested in is which songs will they drop from the set. If they are going to play 5 new ones then they are probably going to drop 5.

One of the more maddening things about seeing New Order live has been their insistence that "Technique" never existed as an album. Why they have pretty-much ignored EVERY song on that record for the past decade is beyond me. It's their "magnum opus" if you ask me....
Very simple answer to this one. Bernard can't sing them anymore. He can't reach the range he always struggled to sing in the 80s. They tried changing the key of various songs to see if they could get them more comfortable vocally, but it wasn't a success. This is why most of Low Life, all of Brotherhood and all of Technique have been absent. Perfect Kiss was the only one that worked with a key change. And as we know, if Bernard doesn't want to do something, it doesn't happen.

What's the complicated answer?
The songs that instantly come to mind as a bridge too far are The Village, Face Up and Age of Consent. Yet AoC was successfully transposed for the most recent tours. B.L.T. was never dropped and Round & Round makes sporadic appearances. Furthermore, Mr. Disco, Vanishing Point and Dream Attack aren't necessarily Alvin & the Chipmunks territory. It's probably more a matter of whether the band (some would say mostly Barney) feel the extra work of revisiting/rebuilding long-unperformed tracks is worthwhile.
I love setlist games. This would be my ideal Music Complete setlist. Keep in mind I am imagining NO would do an 19-20 song main set ala NIN or Depeche Mode.

It's about time they start swapping in some New Order for most of the Joy Division tracks. They're a nice treat occasionally but The Light have got it covered.
As for Blue Monday, are the band really that concerned people will cry about seeing New Order "but they didn't play Blue Monday"? They've been playing it since 1982, people!
It would be nice to hear some new old tracks as well songs from MC .
I guess it depends on time as much as anything....once the live arrangement of the new album tracks has been done, along with practising the rest of the set, that may have absorbed all their rehearsal time.
We'll know in just over 24 hours (and no I'm not predicting a set change there).

No set change i reckon 5 MC tracks will be played and 5 from the previous set dropped, that must be a 30% set change at least.

Because someone asked why certain albums are ignored live. The above is another reason why certain songs haven't appeared live in a while.
