According to the "Watchdog" report last night, Ebay are a bunch of charlatans that you should never have dealings with.

As for the poster, who knows? Is there an "arrange a viewing before buying" function?

hmmm...a seller with no feedback...no picture of the item...and asking 250 what is it you say? quid?

I don't think I'd be bidding on it...

of course, now that I've said that, watch it be legitimate...and wonderful... :cowboy:

EBay is good when you find a good seller, with lots of positive feedback... actually, you don't have to care about positive feedback as they don't mean a thing, since it's mostly "A+++ Greay Ebay person, bla bla"...

If that person has negative feedbacks, you read them and judge by yourself.

There is also people trying to increase the auction by asking people to bid on the item at the price they want.. they prefer to pay the Ebay fees than letting the item go.. this is unfair, but well, you can't do much about it.

And you have the fraud.. I once bought a copy of "New Order - the videos", it was a copy of the best of VHS tape that I already have plus get ready videos.. I was very pissed... I left negative feedback, but what can I do.

I also bought a "Way of Life" 12" from Germany, it was broke when it got home, the seller never answered to my requests (he replied once, telling me to check with the local posting companies for insurance, I checked, they said that it was the sender who should ask, then the seller never replied), and I paid the full price for that item.. which is useless.. it was actually folded in 2 in my mailbox.. either the postman was stupid, either someone was very stupid on the way to my place, when there is resistance.. don't fold!!

Sometimes you have surprises.. you buy something for 10$, and the person asks for 15$ of shipping fees afterwards..

And sometimes you are frustrated because somebody outbids you at the last minute and you are notified by email 2 hours later when the auction is over..

But well, there are good opportunities.. I got an "extra order" and a "20 years of New Order", because the stupid record labels thought we were bootleggers and didn't want to send us any promos... and sometimes you have real gems you can't find in your own country...

I've only had one bad experience on there so far (touch wood), with a "Fall video" that was a desperately crap bootleg copy of a different gig. I left him a guarded "neutral" feedback, and the wanker had the cheek to give me neutral feedback too saying that I should have e-mailed him first to complain rather than dissing him in feedback !

I have had good experiences with Ebay. Only once I had a small problem. I won New Orders PFD video for 1.00 and then he charged me 17.00 for shipping. (Canada to USA) Well I laughed at him, and he said it was his fault. So he charged me 9.00, and he took the lose.

But for the people who are interested. I'm selling my Joy Division "Here are the young men" NTSC Video. It's Original. Dont ask me why I will most likely regret later. But if your interested go check it out.

For those lucky few that own this rare gem, is this vinyl genuine of fake? The colour is basically red unlike other copies I`ve seen.

no picture of it? and no bids so far, i see. hmmm....

i've had some good experiences with e-bay. for example, i got a script from the tv show MASH, signed by the writer. he was the one selling it! however, i've also heard horror stories, so i'm pretty picky about what i go for and i've only bought a few things.

there was a story about e-bay on '60 minutes' the other night and the CEO said that there are only about 30 dishonest sales out of every million. now, i think he was being a bit naive there...or lying.

Since I guess you were the one to ask me in email about it, here is the other copy I've seen on EBay

The color isn't the same, but apparently, it's legit.. I'm now very surprised to see they actually did many different colour vinyls for that promo

Neither of these two items are the same as the one I had. Mine was just multi-coloured vinyl in a clear plastic cover with nothing else. As far as I know Rough Trade ran off many different multi-coloured versions of PCL as promos way back when the albums were initially released. Personally i'm a bit suspicious of these suddenly appearing now, quite regularly it has to be said. I think all these particular New Order multi-coloured vinyls have been made recently, now that interest in the band has risen again. Bid at your own risk!

The initial run of this RT Deutschland promo came in several colours but with NO cover - that was probably added by a.n.other collector at a later date but it is otherwise genuine...and somewhat less rare than originally thought.

Ooo er, you`ve got me worried now, if its a 2nd generation promo, whats its true worth? How many copies 1st and 2nd release do you think there are?

The story goes that they issued no more than about 6-10 of each different multi-colour version of PCL. What's happened here is that someone who had it has added a cover and an inner sleeve to make the item seem more attractive. I do, as i said, find it suspicious that after all these years these things are popping up all the time now, especially on e-bay. And always with rediculous prices. I know Jonathan disagrees with me but I tend to think that all these multi-coloured PCL's (and even Movement) have been made by some bootlegger quite recently who's trying to cash in on the bands recent resurgence, and judging by the prices they fetch he's doing quite well. Probably a nice item to have but probably not,in my opinion, the original 1983 promo.
