I recently aquired a copy of this forementioned master piece of Get Ready rough studio mixes. It`s a delight for ones aural pleasure. Check out dropdeadfred on ebay for a copy.

how different are they in comparison to the final version?

Unfortunately, they're not that different.

You'd have to be very familiar with the originals to notice the differences. Think SLY's got differing lyrics, Run Wild has a longer opening, Close Range is arranged differently, though only subtly. Tiny changes mostly.

Still worth getting though..

The seller on eBay writes that "vicious streak" is over a minute longer...well' i'll think about bidding. :deal:

Aye bid, its well worth it, much better than the offical release, although it doesn`t have everyones favourite Rock the Shack! it does have Run this River Dry and Player in the league. Crystal is different as is vicious streak and someone like you. Buy it

Is Close Range more similar to the Sessions version? That i think pisses over the album version.

... just to chip in.

This is precisely the kind of material I would have hoped would have been inside the Retro tin as well as the more popular releases and live material.

I can respect that, but surely, from New Order's POV they've got version (a) and version (b) and they've already released version (b), cos in their opinion, they think it's the optimum mix.

So they probably wouldn't want version (a) to ever officially see the light of day.

I know if i was a band member i certainly wouldnt be happy about substandard rough, demo material being released officially onto the shelves, wouldnt do much for their image, especially with that large proportion of their fans that know them only for their consistant quality approach to music releases.

I've heard these versions, and they're more like slightly longer 12" inch mixes in places. I guess Steve Osborne/New Order decided to clip them a bit shorter for the final album release.

I remember 'Run Wild' having a few extra synth effects in it, and making that sound a little better than the mainly acoustic version on the released 'Get Ready'.

I managed to download some of the tracks during the last days of Audiogalaxy. The main differences are in Vicious Streak (it's about a minute longer) and Run Wild (it's indeed more 'electronic', it has an extra synthesizer). I don't hear much difference in the other tracks other than the fact that they sound a bit rougher. So they are not early demo versions or anything like that. More rough mixes. Just for my info; what is different in Crystal?

A slightly longer instrumental passage towards the end, with a hooky bass solo about half way through. Only makes it about 30 seconds longer - you can actually get this version commercially on the 'Here To Stay' 12", as I think they put the wrong version on that single (the running time is the same as the album version on the sleeve, when actually it's the original, longer version).

Well, if you have a friend with those in mp3, it's better than bidding on it actually.

It's worth to listen to them, and I prefer that Run Wild version.

SLY has the "We're fools in a lost paradise" vs "We're lost in a fool paradise" lyrics.

Other tracks are longer, they have been edited for the final version, b-sides are the same (Run this river dry and Player in the league)..

Not bad.. but make your own CD, anyways it's a CDR, so it's basically the same, and like all good CDRs, it won't work in 10-20 years from now, so it will be useless!

I don't like the remix of Crystal, I like it better when the band sounds more like a band than some DJ remixing the vocals of Benard to the same typical dance beat that you hear being played with every other song in every other club.

My friend from the Netherlands, Coen, send me a CD-R today with the "Get Ready"-rough mixes!

The version of "Close Range" is f...... brilliant much better than the "cleaner" album cut! The same goes to "Run Wild", the electronic efx as well as the additional keyboards make it much more interesting! The Rest is really like extended versions of the normal tracks. Cheers
