I'd say the Technique period, although they had done some fantastic songs and albums already, for me Technique was New Order at their peak

My feelings too. I voted for 1982-84, but 1980-81 and 1987-89 were marvellous too. I personally feel 1985-86 wasn't all that great; they may have been on top of the world back then, but the true feelings and musical innovation went somewhat in the closet during those years. Luckily, they haven't disappointed since 'Technique', and I doubt if they ever will in times to come...
1982-84, simply because their most groundbreaking work was laid down during this period. Although my personal favorite was Get Ready it couldn't have happened if they'd broken the ice with PCL, a truly legendary album.
My period is 82-84. The singles from Temptation to Thieves Like Us were incredible. Also, I loved the gigs featuring embroyonic versions of Power Corruption and Lies and also British live debut of Thieves still send me into esctacy. (no pun)
I remember being most exited and anxious for new releases and tour info and calling Wyatt Earps Records(my local independant record store-which is still going stong) weekly for info. I remember the release dates constantly being pushed back and driving me nuts. I remember seing the TBTHOG 3"cdsingle sitting on the counter of the store for like 18.99 and me not getting it because I didn't have a cd player yet. I remember driving to the Substance tour at Pine Knob and, as we were exiting the freeway, hearing that the show had been postponed due to an "illness" of a band member. But, my frustrations were always reversed to joy when the vinyl was in my hand or the show really happened. Ahhh, those were the days. bigolaro
