No idea, but looking on Popsike, they've sold about 18 copies over the last few days. This version does not seem to be listed on Discogs at all.

Yeah I looked on Discogs....very odd.

Looks like a nice set though.

Yeah they do look nice, Odd cover for it....but looks like they have a few left. :)

I think those covers come from the Substance gatefold edition if I'm not mistaken.

It's clearly a recent bootleg, and not remotely Japanese (the seller is blatantly lying).

I would avoid.

There's been a bit of discussion on this one amongst some of the biggest NO collectors. Clearly fake.

And not in that semi-acceptable "obviously a boot but you loved that classic gig so don't mind buying" way.

Seems a bit more grubbily deceptive. Hope a buyer works it out and provides the feedback deserved.

nice item. fake. without looking at the matrix numbers on the vinyl, be hard to tell when it was made. did they do 180g pressings in 1988? should have just sold them as bootlegs, without the convoluted backstory.

It is definately fake, there is no writing anywhere...nor is there any tracklisting. Its fun to look at with the classic art design of that collection. I will go home and pray that it at least sounds decent. oh well :(

I bought one. It's beautifully put together, and the sound is great. It's now the 7th copy of Substance I own in various formats, heh.

It's been out of print for years, which is a real shame. I keep hoping Rhino will do a special edition for Record Store Day sometime.

Rhino reissued Joy Division's Substance on compact disc, vinyl and Hi-Res FLAC last year. Also nobody expected New Order's "The London Years" remastered vinyl LPs late last year yet they simply appeared with little warning so I bet Substance 1987 can't be far behind. Let's hope it's not an RSD thing because a legendary compilation like Substance deserves a proper general release rather than a few overpriced copies ending up on Ebay for silly amounts of money.
