Here's the winner of the "People on the High Line" promo video contest...

I didn't like it...

With all the criticism of the track being picked as a single, I thought the contest might go some way towards redeeming the release with an interesting video.

I was wrong.

Meh. Yawn.

I preferred that other video that was online for a week or so back in the summer but strangely disappeared soon after.

Well??? That will be my only viewing. I agree the one that we saw in the summer was 10X better. Who picked this video? I'm guessing nobody in the band. Probably someone from mute, thought it would be a hit with the kids.

This was the one from the summer. I think. Feels like more effort was put into it. Too bad we couldn't have a fan vote.

A beach party video in Ibiza would be far better...

Yep that's the one. Thanks. For some reason I remembered it as have being removed from online. But yeah, like you say, it looks like a lot more effort has gone into that video compared to the new one . And just a much more interesting and funkier video. And I like the girl in it.

Oh well, another strange decision in the world of New Order. Nothing new under the sun.

This video here - yeah, much better - more dynamic and great to see how they incorporated the album artwork into the video.

Well, I like it. Especially the very British setting.

Another video. For the Claptone radio edit.

EDIT: I don't think the breakdance video was the competition winner. Just the official video. This is the competition winner. EDIT2: Have a look at the Q&A on the Genero site . Right down the bottom it says:

The band decided to use the selected video for a remix version, which should be premiering in the next few days :)

EDIT3: If you have (a) the time and (b) the inclination you can look at the top ten finalists, the three staff picks or all 54 videos submitted HERE.

The one from the summer is okay, but nothing special. Just an over used plug-in for FCPX or Premiere and the same two scenes repeated over and over again from different angles and at different speeds. With all the key framing that would have been done, that's a few hundred hours of fiddling about for what amounts to not a lot more than a visually interesting film. There certainly is no evoking of any emotions that would attract somebody to watch it twice - and perhaps get to like the record.

If that song was the only New Order track I had ever heard, the video would certainly not swing me to see what else they might have done. The purpose of a great video is to enhance a good song or at least disguise a crap one.

As for the winner, what an absolute joke. Surely the maker or somebody involved in the process must know whoever judged it to be the best. I skipped through it to different points and just saw the same person spinning around on his head like it was 1977 in Brooklyn all over again.

Now to look through all the other efforts and decide which one should have won...

Good grief! This is even worse than the breakdancing one (which I assumed had won). The other videos won't play on my phone, which is probably a blessing.

Finally a good video! This is the video I've waited for the song. Much better then the boring break dance video that doesn't fit to the song.

Ugh. Seriously. wtf is this shit? As much as I didn't like the breakdancing video, it's a mile better than this crap video of people jumping in a pool. Repetitive images and ugly people.

One of the other 54 videos (no I haven't watched them all) seems to involve lipstick lesbians wrapped up in christmas tree lights. I like that one.

Found it!

(they've reduced the figure from 54 to 53 videos. But at least this one is still there)

Didn't know you could have that much fun with Christmas lights. Better than that stupid pool one.
