puh....1963, but it has been re-released as a single, so i'd say "Lonesome Tonight" and then "Sabotage".

Lonesome Tonight, though Cries & Whispers and Behind Closed Doors rule.

I fell in love with 1963 since the first day I heard it. When I did understand the lyrics somehow it became "one more". But I´m still very fond of 1963.

I should have said Mesh, not Cries and Whispers. Well, I meant the one which is not on Substance CD2 but which is on FEP313.

Ah this poll has "1963" listed (the last one didn't) so I go with that one. :thumb: The song was so good it got released as its own single! Tells ya something!!

'Lonesome Tonight', by a mile. Although it's not my favourite New Order song, I'm having it played at my funeral because of the lyrics about 'how many times before could you tell I didn't care', and that stuff about 'how many times before could you leave my soul alone'.

I've given a CD to a couple of friends and my parents with my favourite ever tune, Henry Mancini's original 'Moon River' - from the start of 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' - segueing into 'Lonesome Tonight', and have insisted it gets played, if I were to go before any of them!

I like the idea that the last thing everyone will hear at my funeral will be a recording of someone doing a "gob" on the floor of a recording studio!

Aaaaarrrggghhh ! These polls are so frustrating !!! How can an inoffensive piece of pop fluff like 1963 be rated higher than the cathedral-like magnificence of In A Lonely Place, truly one of the most dramatic, moving pieces ever composed ? What gives guys ?

Lonesome Tonight is, on the other hand, also a great song.

erm... the 'Thieves like us' instrumental on the back of 'Murder' moves mountains for me...

I voted for "Don't Do It!". It really surprised me, most for its complex lyrics... :D

Seriously, where is the B-side of World In Motion? You may say it's just a remix, but I see it as a very different song from the A-side.

Tchau!

Sure, In A Lonely Place, though it's not fair - it's a JD song actually. But somehow I feel that old songs hold tight with old emotions attached. Close to it is Behind Closed Doors. To re-fresh myself I choose Such A Good Thing. It's a nice track with no gloom.

Voted for HURT but on reflection In a Lonely Place stands the test of time better...

Still the version on 511 wasnt up to much i didnt think...

Lonesome Tonight

I know it's an unoriginal choice, but I think it's better than some of the album tracks. Mesh comes a close second though ...it has a JD-like urgency.
