Brotherhood better than Low-Life?

Went in HMV and picked up Brotherhood, Republic and Low-Life all of which I previously only owned on vinyl for a combined price of £1.99 less than International, which stayed on the shelf. On playing them back for the first time, Brotherhood came out on top over Low-Life for the first time. There's a lot of depth to the songs I'd perhaps glossed over in the past. Also actually prefer the sounds on it. Always disliked elements of Low-Life (drum sounds and synths) but thought it had stronger songs overall. Now not so sure.

tough call...low life just shades it for me....

the production on brotherood seems a bit "tinny"...

both albums contain classics...but when reproduced live during the time...the low life songs were far better...

Did not even have INTERNATIONAL in my local store and this is one of the first i have not purchased on release day.But off to MANCHESTER this week so will probably get it then.LOW LIFE is my favourite btw. Did you ever get the METALLIC covered BROTHERHOOD..well tinny too.:D Just to clarify that is ANY offshore release that was released before the BRITISH one...in this case was it AUSSIE one HANK(your knew name is toooooooooo long)?

Im a big big advocate of Brotherhood (as many on this forum know)

Its a distressing choice to choose between Brotherhood/Lowlife and I must say Technique for me.... (and my fave NO song aint even on any of these 3 albums!)

At the end of the day the only way to choose between 3 albums of such musical finess is through personal experiences and Brotherhood always brings back memories of crazy teenage parties, childhood sweethearts and suchlike,

If you can attach those type of timeless emotions to an album then you really have the hallmark for an enduring all time favourite which will stick by you through thick and thin by virtue its "time and place" association.

May I also note that these albums can be the hardest to listen to, although not for the wrong reasons...

Ahhh, this old chestnut again! Brotherhood for me every time. The production and synth sounds on Low-Life just sound so eighties-tastic. It aint aged well.

Brotherhood is only a whisker behind Technique as my all time fave.

couldnt agree more Graham, although Brotherhood swapped places with Technique due to my comments earlier :)

I prefer the songs on Low Life overall, don't like the production on either, but prefer the editing on Brotherhood. Never heard such a botch job as Low Life. At least they knew how to produce records properly by the time of Technique !

Still not seen a metallic Brotherhood to the best of my knowledge.

i think they're probably my two favourite albums (though i did go through a serious technique phase for about a year after it came out), although i've gone back and forth on which i like the best. right now, it's low-life.
