too bad "Warsaw" never got prefessionally recorded later when they could play better, its a nice punk song
"Digital" is another good punky track, the early recording does not quite do it justice

What are you smoking? Both Digital and Glass sound GREAT! There is nothing wrong with those recordings.
It's very tuff to say. Right I will say that JD's greatest song is "Atmosphere", but my vote will probably change from week to week.
wel i am sorry..ok then ceremony is a joy division song, woteva, its still a brilliant song! im more of a joy division fan, but that song still sounds like there best, even when new order peform it.
I voted for "The kill". I love the older punkier songs more. Although "Ceremony" is probably their classiest number overall.
NOVELTY......their true polished punk song..... but TRANSMISION pretty close to my fav. coz my legs just cant resist under Ian's instructions......

Yes as i have said before...NOVELTY is pure class!
ok then...we need a poll for best joy division bass line, can sum1 do 1 please? I suppose it helps if u play hooky bass like me, but its not essential. id go for 24 hours, ceremony or digital
it was a tough call...but atmosphere just does something for me on a level that even their other songs don't. i do think if JD had been around long enough to do a recording of "ceremony", it would have been their best by far.
and as far as basslines go (i'm a bass player myself who emulates hooky's style quite a bit), i have to say twenty four hours
Sound of Music, Heart and Soul, LWTUA, The Eternal, Dead Souls. Some interesting insights as well, folks........
This is such a difficult poll. At times I'd vote for the power of Dead Souls, at others the plea of New Dawn Fades, the resignation of 24 Hours, the aggression of Shadowplay, the self-betrayal of A Means To An End. My X went to the horrible finality of Decades though, the closer of Closer, where the chicken stopped.
i'm not able to vote here. Joy Division have written so many brilliant tracks...i really don't know. my current favourites are "Insight", "Wilderness", and "24 Hours".
hatbpoll is easier for me: Transmission. My fauvorite Jd song, my really favourite song. Even if JD have not a bad or simpley average song: they are all great. They are total genius! Ian is one of the best composers ever - if not the best.
It sounds ridiculous to say that I like all Joy Division/Warsaw songs that I've ever laid ears upon, but, I do like every JD/W song I've ever heard. But "Transmission" is a powerful piece, one that even non-JD people have liked. Also, the performance for this one on Something Else is absolutely astounding. (The "Dead Fly Dance"? - Ingenius!)
Atmosphere. It's a timeless piece of clasical music, and at the same time, as Paul Morley had said, the last pop song.

The same. Decades. I'm only surprised why it's got only 7 votes.
