I dunno, Close Range just doesn't do it for me, but neither does human contact 
It's a good song, just not one that I make a point of listening to when I pop in GR. Turn My Way is still the fave around Taboo's House of Musical Pleasures

To be honest, my personal fave from Get Ready is Primitive Notion, but Close Range was a great surprise. Still play Get Ready pretty often, and it's still me second favourite album.

Another example of a missed single opportunity would be Mr. Disco off Technique.
Tony Wilson has said that it was slated to be a single (US only?) but the closed minds at Warner Bros. wanted the title changed (disco was still a dirty word to them). New Order chose not to release the song as a single and all we got next was the wisely limited release of Run2.
I've often wondered if any mixes of Mr. Disco were done before the plug was pulled. The live version from the Technique tour certainly was a lot of fun.
Great tune, yearning lyrics and a commanding groove. Does anyone else out there like it? I know Gavin C. is with me on this one.

2nd best tune on Get Ready. A classic. Gave me the same feeling True Faith did when I heard it for the first time.
Special place in my heart, mostly because it's the second Get Ready track I found on the web (After 60MPH). Better than everything after Primitive Notion on the album.
I'm not impressed by Close Range. And Primitive Notion is very good, could be a fans favourite in the years to come. Did anyone except me notice that the alternative lyrics are sexist ?
I noticed as well. But I know Shug, and the last thing he really is is a sexist. That's Sid. Not Sid Scott though.

I totally agree. I love Mr Disco to death. My mom even liked it, which is weird.
As for Close Range, fantastic. Better than Rock the Shack anyways.
