The Other Two interview. One of two that exist on YouTube or I guess anywhere. Really fun and cute.

Also, what's Steve saying to Gillian at around :58-1:00? Something about the painting?

I love seeing all these ancient videos finally surfacing!

It's the main reason I keep stopping into these forums at this point.

I naively hold out hope that someone will eventually upload some unearthed Joy Division footage that hasn't been seen -

I so remember the late 80s, having to find record shops in Boston or NYC, usually down some alley, that would stock any Factory Records bootlegs. Hard to explain how much effort it took back the day to the digital generations.

Yep. I love seeing old videos like this.

I pretty much search youtube everyday in the vague hope that somebody will post something new.

The one clip I'm absolutely desperate to see (my White Whale, if you like), is the following:

'Villa Tempo', BRT1 (Belgian TV), 27/01/86

It features Barney, Hooky and Rob (I think) playing in a charity football match.

Me too. Always looking. And saw you also added some rarities to YouTube. Thank you!

Never saw the charity match one. I wonder who might have it???

Villa Tempo.... what did they play on it? Or was it an interview?

Also, any clue what Steve was mumbling in the one I posted? Around 1:00?

And know if any other actual Other Two interviews even exist? Other than the other one up on YouTube. And if any other Electronic ones exist but not posted anywhere? Or is everything that's now available the only stuff?

Steve is saying 'Oh, go on then', in response to Zoe Ball's question 'I've come to ask you just a few questions'. Is that what the bit you're talking about.

The only proper 'Other Two' interviews I know of are as follows:

  1. 'Naked City', Channel 4, 27/08/93 (interviewed on a sofa in a studio; they show some clips of home movies featuring New Order on the beach, having a barbecue etc.)
  2. 'First Look', MTV Europe, 23/10/93 (brief interview clips from 'Selfish' video set)
  3. 'The O-Zone', BBC2, 24/10/93 (interview in Paris)
  4. 'First Look', MTV Europe, 27/11/93 (another set of brief interview clips from 'Selfish' video set) (I have this on my channel)

Numbers 2) and 4) are on my channel. Number 3 is the one you posted above.

There may be others.

It certainly seems likely that there were interviews (probably on satellite TV) at the time of 'Tasty Fish' and possibly around the time of 'Super Highways'. It's also very likely that MTV used other clips from that 2) and 4) interview above.

MTV Europe used to do that quite a bit; break up an interview and use different clips on different shows. It was always very annoying to '20 year-old fanboy perspexorange' who would catch a clip of our heroes on MTV News. Then, when he had the video recorder all set up ready to catch the item on the next bulletin, they'd either use a completely different clip, or worse still, not feature the band at all (being MTV Europe, they'd most likely feature Guns 'n' Roses or something equally as smelly).

There must be a tonne of those 'blink and you'll miss it' unscheduled New Order clips that were only shown once on MTV. Kind of annoying, as we'll likely never see those again as fans wouldn't know that they were going to be featured and hence won't have recorded them (not that they were probably earth-shattering, but you know what I mean).

As regards, 'Villa Tempo', I think it was just an interview and footage of the band playing football (no live performance etc.). I remember reading about it in one of the old fanzines (either 'Standard' or 'Last Orders'; probably the former) back in the late 80s.

I know somebody who's got the footage. I think he was actually at the football match, but also recorded it when it was shown on TV a few days later. He's offered to send it to me, but he's currently getting it transferred from VHS. I don't think it's very long (it's probably only 3-4 minutes) but I would love to see it.

Well, the bit around 0:58 is what I said before - 'Oh, go on then'. He leans towards Gillian at the time, but that's just his mannerism, I think. He says it in response to Zoe.

Yep - I'll certainly share the football match if I ever get hold of it. I'm sure I'll get it at some point.

Wow! Ok I think there are a few I havent seen. I'll have to double check YouTube. The 120 minutes ones. Not sure if a couple I saw were actually one of those.

Definitely havent heard of the 2 Rock/Germany one. Or the japanese ones. There is one that was just posted a few months ago with loud narrator translation overtop Johnny talking but I think that was French.

Thankyou for this list! This site needs a database of these.

As for the steve thing.. I think he says something else after go ahead then.. like "talk" or something that rhymes with it. At first I thought he said something about a gong lol
