Great article, Andy!

Thanks for the link.

Never seen that photo of them with the statue before. I wonder if it'll be in the book that comes with the set.

Thanks for these interviews. That photo by the statue looks like from same photo session (band pictured by a lake or big pond) with an interview in Smash Hits in 1984.Same clothes, weather etc.Caption states it was in Kensington.Often wondered where it was and now i know[:)]

Good interview apart from the bit saying she was key to their development. I hate generalisations like that, like when people say the Beatles 'invented' pop music. It was the Beatles and the Spice Girls. That second one was fucking hard going though. I gave up. And I once watched 10 hours of Ingmar Bergman. There was an NME article around that period, republished circa 1990, where Hooky said a fan asked him to autograph an album. Hooky told him to stick it up his arse, 'and he went away upset.' Weird, eh? Gillian is their secret weapon!

The interviewer, Jude Rogers (female) often says nice things about NO on twitter. But it's probably just as well she left most of the talking to Gillian, as she sometimes goes a bit awry, as NotAMod pointed out here.
