It's an interesting thing to collect (I ripped open plenty of those back in the day). They were essentially a packaging solution for stores to stock compact discs utilizing the same shelving units that were used for 12" vinyl. It helped stores transition to the new format without having to invest as much money. The profit margins were so high for the record labels back then, that this extra bit added to the packaging cost wasn't a concern.

I believe I only bought Substance and Technique in these. I had the imported Factory releases otherwise, and I'm pretty sure longboxes were history by the time of Republic.

Recently got the japanese reissue CD as a birthday gift. Don't feel like unsealing it for now, since I got the 24-bit download.

this comes with a cool booklet in spanish, will scan, and maybe translate?

Was anyone quick enough to scoop up one of the super rare People On The High Line” 12” singles hidden in the Mute online sale last weekend? Happened overnight for me and couldn’t believe they had some copies left to sell.

I was quick enough to land a Restless 12” promo which aren’t easy to come by, and fetch a bit on resell now.

I've seen them go for US$250-$350, but they rarely change hands.

A cover that contained direct samples of the original, along with samples of Prodigy's Everybody In The Place, as per WhoSampled. I remember thinking at the time that it sounded like The Prodigy covering NO. It used to get played regularly in the late night slots on MTV Europe back in '92.

so 2 years ago, i posted that... and as of last month 2 copies of the 12 inch were up on discogs.

1 with a generic sleeve, and one with the picture cover.

got the picture cover one, should be here in a few weeks.

2 things

1 will digitize the the tracks, and post them 2 will try to recreate the poster with all the original items, or as close as possible. some of the scaling is weird, so some will be full vinyl, some cd's, etc.

that should be fun.

i kept wondering what it was.

anyways, i wasn't expecting much, but both mixes are actually decent.

the scale on the poster is big, small, and doesn't match up correctly with most.

People have a hard time comparing the Music Complete tracks to their classic output. For me, this song and "Singularity" are easily in their top 25 for me when I try and take nostalgia out of the equation. They really are great tracks.

The track listing is incorrect.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a different mix when I bought it, back in about 1990.

I have both the promo and the CDV. The promo's 4:15 "Album Edit" is the exclusive track. I do notice the "Morning Sun Remix/Edit" has a slightly different runtime on each disc (listed as "7 inch" on CDV). They sound the same to me but the promo track runs 4:10 while the CDV version ends at 4:05.

It is the 7" - the same version that's on the 'Singles' double CD. So was a digital exclusive at the time, but not these days.
