"He was a broadcaster, music mogul, social activist, local celebrity, publicity seeker, loud mouth, surreal politician, showman and, according to Paul Morley, "a great resourceful man of the north." Now Terry Christian provides a passionate account of why he was also a great life. This was certainly an extraordinary life, and by the end even presenter Matthew Parris is won round."

Thanks. I'd have missed this probably, if you hadn't mentioned. Will set a reminder for the 10th.

This is available to stream/play back now. Is there a suggestion around 7 mins that Tony was the product of incest? I've never read any books about him, so perhaps this is old "news".

Anthony Burgess and Mick Middles (mentioned on here recently) get name checked.

Fans of Paul Borely will be pleased(!) to hear this is a sort of two-hander between Christian and Borely. Mathew Parris' Thatcher comments only mildly turned my stomach.

Haven't had chance to listen to it fully yet.

I'm assuming that 'Uncle Edgar' was Tony's father's brother, rather than Tony's mother's brother. The former is a bit morally wrong (sleeping with your husband's brother), but considerably more palatable than the latter (sibling one-on-one action [:eek] ).

And I really like Paul Morley and am very happy to listen to him talk about his friendship with Tony. Should be a good listen.
