... Cubase SX ... am about to upgrade to this (Mac version almost here) ... is it a marked difference on the latest version of Cubase?
Cutting to the chase is it as smooth as butter spread on a granary bap?

Originally posted by Biznotic Love Trapazoid that was my thought exactly...if Bernard is so concerned with quality, why does he CONSTANTLY fuck up live? Atmosphere does NOT need whoops and hollers...and come on, introducing True Faith in 2002 as "New Version" when we all know it's the Perfecto mix into from 95 is failing to uphold his so called standards...another thing...why on the Electronic ticket stub for the Wembley show does it say "Electronic do not use tapes" yet NewOrder's current live show is laughable because of their use of taped music...so many other "electronic" acts (underworld, chems, orbital, plaid etc.) can "jam" live yet the pioneers, NewOrder, rely on half of Lionrock to program and press play? Why can't New Order in 2002 decide "Let's play Sooner Than You Think for these bastards" and then play it? Total bullshit and a scar on their history...Bernard is no more concerned with quality than any other New Order fan...he's just a twat...nice haircut, baby face, sweet voice, decent guitarist, twat...stay off the charlie, memorize your lyrics, stop whooping during the slow, emotional numbers and lighten up!
IMHO he has to a large extent cut out the whooping now anyway, there was a lot less of it on the last few dates I saw.

But what is this ALL used for?Bit of a tecie novice with this! Please explain in layman terms.:D
Mick baby - buy a computer and buy Reason or Cubase and then produce Someone Like You.
You'd have to sing it though.

Mick, I can err maybe mail it to you if you don't call the cops. Reason 1 though, not 2 and it has done some funny things to my p.c. What's the difference between 1+2? Still only just getting to grips with 1 BTW. Oh have Battery and Cubase VST on the same disc if you want it.
'This album is a collection of recordings that New Order feel best represents their back catalogue - which part of this do you not underdstand? This album is not aimed at the few dozen kids complaining here you know. This is a marketing exercise for London Records and New Order therefore they will endevour to make it as attractive to the majority as possible.'
OK, let's separate the two issues, I'm not interested in Retro or what it contains. As you say, it's a marketing tool that's exists purely to make money and nothing else. It's the other part of what you say that interests me :
'what's punk about screwing your so-called fans by releasing below par shite in the hope of pleasing so few?
If the rarer tracks were available to purchase online, how is that screwing anyone ? Nobody's forcing anyone to buy them. It's being treated as some sort of moron who needs to be spoon-fed music that hacks me off.
'Having heard very many of the demos - from 1980 to the present day, I would prefer the public to hear the proper release versions.'
So it's OK for you to hear the demos but the rest of us aren't clever enough to handle it ? We're so stupid that we need to have our listening choice managed by someone else who is clearly far better equiped to decide what we as individuals want to listen to ?
Thanks but my son won't let me download anything to it!:D
Plus i am still trying to fathom out how to copy cassettes to DRY MATCHES for that little extra gift at XMAS for the PHOENIX members who like a toot but always running out of matches. The covers will make nice RIZLA...cheap paper only.
BTW did you actually manage to PLAY any of the CDs,especially the 12 GIG one via REAL PLAYER? to get those nice GIG listings?
Cheers Rocket Mick SUBSTANCE ABUSE 94 in the mix.
But back on TOPIC i can understand why the RETRO is causing problems for some diehard fans. Most if the demos and stuff i have heard sounds bad but has some interesting takes.More that the QUALITY from the lousy cassettes eventually burned on CD-R is CRAP.Still actually like some of the actual demos themselves. But by the time anything like this comes out i shall probably be IN A LONELY PLACE.
'I watched the band sans-Barney doing "True Faith" at the MCR MOVE soundcheck and I can assure you that the layered vocal parts were sequencer driven NOT tape.'
Does it matter if they're produced by sequencer or tape ? Surely the point is that the sounds are not created by the musicians on the stage and, therefore, they constrain the performance.
Mick the discs you did for me were excellent.
YSF @ Radio 1 superb (as were all recorded at that time - 2002)
The cover of True Faith I found very pleasing to the ear. Have you any other covers, I've got a 'thang for them now. This site used to have a happy Japanese version of BLTomato but never seen it anywhere else.

So... is it possible for barney to get too over excited, whoop! very loudly and melt all the technology? and what would happen if his ample frame fell into a stack of equipment?

Would you still like to hear all the lousy SOUNDING (as in QUALITY) demos.Very few and i think you will have them anyhow,i am trying to compile the CD-R called NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL NOT VERY INTERESTING VOLUME 1.May even put some PSB out-takes on so NO ONE will want one:D

What YOU want is neither here nor there.
Barney in particular is not interested in allowing the release of demos. They do not represent the final product in anything more than a "sounds like" fashion; a guide for future production reference. and for the band themselves to perhaps listen to and expand upon before entering the studio for the full-on recording session. Demos are NOT recorded with release in mind - the end.
The e-commerce idea is a total non-starter because Barney doesn't want anyone hearing these - fans OR the general public alike.
Face facts - unless you get a hold of these via the bootleg network then you're simply not getting them...
I WAS lucky enough to hear them but that was more to do with my tenacity than anything else.
rest in peace all the jd/no fans who committed suicide because of you know what... respect to them... only they know the truth and one day it will come to those ... .....
Originally posted by Huntsman What year? - its it possible to elaborate on your relationship with the cheese consumer or was it a brief moment in time?Your not riding one of them Penny Farthing's on the 'Stop Me' vid. are you?
It was a fairly brief friendship but I DID appear in the "Hand in Glove" film shot at Glasgow Barrowland for "The Tube" the day after that pic was taken...you really SHOULD see that one.

What's below par about the 7" of Temptation?
Kids? Who the fuck calls a 41 year old a kid? Only someone in the business with a superior attitude of condescension to the record buying public at large......... who can't spell endeavour..........

Just who is this stupid cunt?
Just ignore him/HER ..has been trying to annoy for a few weeks with so called provocative comments.I'll take him up to the PHOENIX for a
.That will silence him!:D

Please explain this "tape" nonsense.
by taped i meant pre-programmed, not actual tape....you cannot deny that a huge percent of the current live sound is pre-programmed and rigid in it's structure, not allowing for any improv - except guitar.
would you lend Retro to a friend as the ultimate collection of the history of New Order?
sure there are almost 2 1/2 CDs of classic New order, as well as the single CD International in addition which has overlap... who are these CDs really servicing... the novice fan? the fan who wants all the best tracks in one place? the longtime fan who wants all the 80s singles on a nice CD?... it seems somewhat poorly planned, and does not really fit anybody's needs. and if they are so damn concerned about their legacy, wanting to avoid putting lower quality unreleased stuff out, they could have at least taken the time to put it together with more thought, or why did they even bother in the first place?

Oh boo hoo...
So you've reached 41 and you don't understand the basic workings of the record industry? That's more a comment on you than me. What's to understand? It's a business - sadly one that cares little for "the kids".
The band have chosen a collection that they feel best represents their work to date. As "hardcore" fans we are very much in the minority - it's up to us indiviually to look out demos and alternate versions via networks/forums like this.
The specific "Temptation" chosen was ultimately up to the band. I assume the 7" was not their favourite. So what?
Who are we to decide what should have been included/omitted on/from this release anyway?
Yeah but h'away 4.45, let's be honest, when all said and done some of your spelling is a little below par which is surely the main issue.
So cccccccooommee on then ... spit the Moz stories out you little tinker. Did he really wear a glove on his hand?

Or did he wear it somewhere else, perhaps?
That'll be wit then? mmmmm.
Anyway, no gloves that I noticed though I wasn't paying too much attention.
My mate & I gave Marr a Scottish flag which he wore on stage during the bands encore. He told me later (in King Tuts earlier this year) that not only did he remember the incident but that his erstwhile writing partner had a wonderful picture of this moment on the wall of his home in L.A.
We met the band a few times and I always found Marr to be the most interesting while Morrissey was the real crashing bore of the partnership.
We have every right to have a say or opinion on what's included - we're the ones paying for it.
Opinion - YES
Say - NO.
What we represent is a tiny minority of the buying public. If many thousand of fans had contacted London or Prime Management to request a particular track then I suspect it would have had an effect but what we have here are a few dozen disgruntled fans who want a couple of changes - NOT going to happen. Having said that, there is the possibility that some of these issues WILL be addressed sometime around the release of "Retro".
Contrary to what many of us thought, the management DO take notice of what's written here and I think that we'll see a "positive result" in the not too distant future.
When did the big eedgit come back?
Welcome back Johan, you miserable blue nose git:D
Nice work on getting the final standings on Retro, and good to see yer getting intae more arguments, you just atrract it don't ye
Any chance of an early copy of this thing![]()
