i'm totally being picky here, but i like the album version of BLT a lot more than the single. something about the intro with just the bassline instead of that drum thing appeals to me a whole lot more

I've been in Harrogate, N. Yorks: which is, believe it or not, the Beverley Hills of northern England. Unfortunately, I've had no internet access......until now, that is.

Can someone answer my questions hidden above, ie: does "Retro" (which is pretty good, IMHO) have the '82 "Temptation" and is the Finsbury DVD out on 2/12 or 9/12???

On a vaguely related note, my sister has just started writing for the stude paper at Lancaster Uni, and recently attended a meeting wherein records were being distributed for free. Lo and behold, up comes "Retro" which goes as a freebee to anyone willing to write a 300-word review. So my sis looks round at the assembled 18 year olds in Vines and Sum 41 t-shirts and thinks "well, that's my big brother's Xmas present sorted, 'cos no-one in here knows who New Order are". However, in an "I'm Spartacus!!" situation, EVERYONE wants the Order promo box set, and eventually it get given to some spotty undergrad geek who probably listens to Slipknot.

A tale of woe, I'm sure you'll agree. Still, at least London are working hard on promoting it if it's going to every student union in the country.........

Anyway, a belated "hi" ta all and sundry. And Clive - no, I don't want to talk about it......

Surely we live and we learn? 'A sound formed in a vacuum is a waste of time' etc. So if the path to enlightenment is through the words of others and we end up possibly richer from it, so be it.

Indeedie, one thing about these polls i never 'view results' before i may my choice as it matters not what other people have voted for. For example i wouldnt feel i'd voted 'wrongly' should i have cast the only vote for a certain category, as i would have voted for it for a personal reason :) (btw i voted for TTON on this poll!)

You live and learn from facts, but surely not via personal taste? It doesn't matter how many people think Leave Me Alone is superior to Age of Consent I, personally, cannot see it.

I agree with you on Age of Consent and it's not often I change my mind but it remains open to the possibility that there is more to garner from this band and life in general than I can arrive at on my own.

I was just passing info, my own favourite from PC&L is and always will be KW1, having said that I must of course add that "a thought that never changes remains a stupid lie" ;)

Oh, I have another question: why aren't "YSF" and "Temptation" on the DVD: surely it can't be because of performance quality???

Albion have got 7 out of the last 9, which is Championship form in anyone's book I had the entire Derby County squad cross the road infront of me on Saturday morning. They were going back to their hotel after a jog along the seafront. Good job Gregory wasn't with them, as my foot just might have slipped on the accelerator.

Wow...well, there are a lot of NO songs I like from each of the albums...but from this list, I'll say "Dream Attack". It has the best balance of "traditional" rock and "electronic" music elements, and it is a good example of New Order's innovative musical style.

Also, I picked that because I didn't see "1963" or "Perfect Kiss" on there. (Yes, I know that "1963" is a single, but it was ALSO on Disc 2 of "Substance - 1987". "Perfect Kiss" was also on "Substance" as well as the first album for it to appear on, "Low-Life".)

being a derby fan...it would have been nice for you to have ran gregory down......during the beachfront jog did they stop at a couple of greasy spoons

No disrepect to Derby, but Gregory always slags us at every opportunity. Just because we took him on and won over Gareth Barry. They played well, though neither side produced much in the way of shots on goal. A draw would have been a fairer result, but given our recent form I was happy with all 3 points.

I guess I'd better get back on topic, so Dreams Never End it is.

Crystal gets my nod, but only because its the highest ranking song of an album that was listed, IMHO. Confused by that sentance? So am I.

Well, actually, I think I have been a more consistent proponent of LMA than our beloved Mr. H has been; he has recently suggested that he might prefer TMW.

Leave Me Alone just ahead of Dream Attack. They are my favourite NO songs behind True Faith and Procession.

I agree that TTON is very good; for me, however, LMA is unbeatable.

Dreams Never End, it's a close contest between several songs, but the title swings it Dreams Never End's way.

However, I've experienced that different songs ment more to me during different times in my life, so my favourite song would possibly be another one, say, five or ten years ago.

Look fettle pipe pop pickers, it has to be Dreams Never End. It represents the era when there was still anger and energy in the band. They had a great big 'FUCK OFF' aura about them in those days, an intensity and brilliance that has sadly vanished and turned into dull padestrianism.

Oh, yeah, "The Village" is okay. From PC&L, "We All Stand" is one of the best... A little weird, but both of them sound good for me and very indigestive for most of my dudes.

yeah... i voted for leave me alone." :) to me its just one of those perfect songs, even more so than "age of consent." besides, i love playing my mass along with "leave me alone."

weirdest NO track? first one that comes to mind is "murder." and it was a single no less. cheers.

Dream Attack: Listening to it now. At the time it was the standout track for me on the 1st listen. And in the years since, it just brings back memories of some great times. Then again, a lot of NO stuff does.

BLT all the way - great selection though

Mmm... strong contenders, I have to say! Though my vote went to 'Leave me alone' (so fragile, sad and tender!), it could have be just as easily one of the other tracks, bar 'Crystal' (nice enough, but certainly not the best cut of 'Get ready') and 'This time of night' (What happened with that poll? Were all people loving either 'Love vigilantes' or 'The perfect kiss' on vacation during the vote, or what? Truly can't believe that 'This time of night' went away with the honors! One of the weaker songs on 'Low life' in my opinion).

No Perfect Kiss? blasphemy. Well, as the Substance version wasn't a choice in this 'best of the best' poll, I'll excuse its absence.

My vote goes to Dream Attack - if it doesn't make you feel at least a little warm and gooey inside, you've got no heart!
