it's alright...not bad...but not even good...it doesn't bother...it doesn't touch...it's kinda superfluous...
I like the part about eating the CD...wonder if they taste alright with a little dollop of honey?

A wry pun on Crystal there perchance?!!? ![]()
Why does Slow Jam seem to get such a hard time ?! I think the weakest tracks on Get Ready are Rock the Shack, 60 miles an hour and Close Range.
IMO is kinda boring, not crap (I do not even consider Revenge's output crap) but as someone said before superflous. On the other hand I am starting to like 60mph and Close Range is an excellent song.

dammit Mr. Nobber...don't start this discussion about Rocking Jimmy's Chicken Shack...that's a great song, now quit it, or it's off with your head!!!
by the way, have I mentioned that I like RTS...

You all know that I'm far too dense to every come up with something that witty!
personally, it's my favourite song on the album (even though it does sound a bit like a car advert...it was used as one in oz, after all!). top song, in my humble opinion. just has that je ne sais quoi.
Well fer moi, it encapsulates everything I love about Barney's lyrics, shows he's got a good sense of humour. Since the album came out, I have always stuck up fer this track (and Rock The Shack) I don't understand where people are coming from when they attack these 2. Although it's not the best song on the album, I still love it. Steve Lamacq session version was simply awesome, and listening to it again on Bootlegs has never dettered my liking of this song. It beats Arithmetic:D
you guys are deaf...girls too. this song totally sucks. lyrics, music...the whole thing stinks...come on, just admit that neworder are writing about 60percent good material and 40percent absolute shite like this and Such a Good Thing. Piss poor Oasis B-side / nothing more-nothing less.

come on now, Brian, don't hold your feelings back...tell us what you really think about Slow James...
it's embarrasing to listen to Slow Jam...you cannont take it seriously and yet people actually like it...maybe the same people who thought Brit-pop was sent from heaven...it proves how far away from sublime masterpieces like Temptation and The Perfect Kiss the band have come. Consider awesome album cuts like Sooner Than You Think, This Time of Night and Sunrise...and then look at Rock the Shack, Slow Jam and Run Wild. Old men with NO tricks left up their sleeves...Vicious Streak and Primitive Notion are absolutely beautiful, perfect examples of NewOrder at their best while Slow Jam is NewOrder at their most boring, mainstream depths.

IMO, The only crappy song on Get Ready is Run Wild. The other tracks range from merely OK (Primitive Notion, Slow Jam) to GREAT (Someone Like You, Crystal, Close range).
Excellent!

Slow Jam is the vomit of people who have run out of ideas. Ceremony must be turning in its sleeve to hear such absolute rubbish shares the same/similar writing credits.

so, you agree with me that it's the best track on the album then? ![]()
Slow Jam is alright but I'm here to stick up for Such a Good Thing.
Musically, it sounds more like "classic" New Order than World in Motion (the other footie song) and probably the majority of Get Ready. Those that criticise Republic for it's lack of "Hooky Bass" should be pleased with his contribution to SaGT.
Whatever your opinion of the lyrics, they're miles better than WiM as well. Barney sounds like a genuine fan of the game whereas Keith Allen's lyrics just sound like propaganda.
This song was an excellent new track when the record company could have just padded the release with another 12 year old remix that we already have.
Er, I kind of like that Oasis b-side (Round Are Way (sic)) too.
