It's an OK Song. Nice electronics and sounds, but the song itself is a bit too long for my taste. too much instrumental, no real climax...
One of my favorites of GR, has what I would call a "revisionist" New Order sound (my fave right now is Primitive Notion though) ![]()
It's a great track beautifully crafted with some of the best lyrics from GR.
You've got a vicious streak For someone so young
MY worst get ready song by a mile. and yes, it sounds like madonna´s "music". I wonder what the hell they tried to do here.
it's 'not good, but not bad either' in my opinion. not really my cup of tea. the clapping sounds get on my nerves, the keyboard part is too repetitive and i find it pretty dull overall, but i DO really like hooky's bass when it comes in.
I absolutely love Vicious Streak. I wish they did songs like this. Instead, we get Rawk N Roll SHITE like Slow Jam and Rock the Shack when we could be getting beautiful electronic numbers like VS. It has the pace and sequence that reminds me of Thieves Like Us. Primitive Notion is the best thing on Get Ready (and the best they've done since Low-Life) with Vicious Streak being second best on GR. No endlessly repeated cheesy chorus like Crystal, Regret, 60 MaH etc...it seems like New Order are relying on a formula with their singles since Regret....
Vicious Streak RULES!

great minds think alike...eh???
arf arf!!!!
I love the first half of the song, and the choruses. I don't like how Barney sings the verses, and the rest of the song after that really low bass thing. It gets boring after that, and I usually find myself skipping to the next track.
Personally, it's my third best song from GR after TMW and PN......good tune, uncluttered, typically melancholic....

You do not seem to like the softier, slower tracks. Am I right?
I like this track. It sticks out to me as the kind of track only New Order can pull off. It sounds different, in my opinion. Also, the lyrics remind me of someone. :)
For some odd reason I keep getting this mixed up with Primitive Notion (just the names). Er, so I voted for Primitive Notion as a great song. Thankfully, this is the same as my opinion of Vicious Streak, which is a splendid thing, and the third best track on GR (after Crystal, the best, and Primitive Notion).
I did think the option that Primitive Notion sounded like Madonna was a bit odd...
Yeah, Graeme...I agree with you. New Order and Madonna are from two separate bins in the music department...

Never really thought of it like that; there's some wonderful slooow moments like Atmosphere, Elegia, Every Little, KW1 and Lonesome Tonight. What I find hard to get to grips with is the tracks which don't seem to fit into any genre whatsoever. I find the likes of Vicious Streak too 'MOR' - neither slow, nor fast, just a bit undecided.
