Just to lighten the mood, can one of the ultra-informed forum members tell me anything about the 10" acetate version of the song that appears now and again in Record Collector?

Mark Johnson's book An Ideal For Living identifies Only the Lonely as the working title for Leave Me Alone.

my brother had (maybe still has in the loft) an american tape of power, corruption and lies where your silent face is titled kw1 and leave me alone was titled only the lonely. so maybe this acetate is just the normal lp version?

The info I gave was from the New Order Discography website.. it might be Leave Me Alone... this site says Ecstasy..

The first "pressing" of the US Factory cass of "P.,C. & L." contained the working titles of the songs - this was corrected later.

I still don't know why this acetate was produced at all. As I mentioned before, they are hideously expensive to manufacture and tend to predate and suggest a future tracks release however it may be that the original cut of the lp was fine except for that track and that it was re-remastered before the final version of the plates were cut for the entire album. Sound plausible?

Hadn't played that cassette in years, so you made me curious. Sure enough, the side two track order: Kwi, Ultraviolence, Only The Lonely, Leave Me Alone, The Beach.
