Hi all,

I was just wondering if any of you all had been fortunate enough to ever met bernard, peter, stephan, gillian or even Ian Curtis.

I myself met Peter Hook once in Washington DC. Monaco was in town playing at the 930 club in 1997 I think. I was so excited to see the show. I had never seen New Order ive before then, so I figured that this was as close as I would ever get to see them Live. The opening band came on. So me and my ex were just watching, I happened to look back at the bar and I saw a guy with short bleached hair getting a drink, it was Hooky! I almost didn't recognize him because of the hair. No one was around him. He was just standing there watching the opening act. I really wanted to meet him, but I didn't know if he wanted to be bothered. I also didn't want to look like some star-struck freak. But I got up the nerves to approach him. All I can say is that I succeeded in making myself look like a star-struck freak. I went up I almost could not say anything. I put out my hand and kept blurting out,"You're Peter Hook!" Just embarressing myself without knowing it. I made few comments about monaco, I avoided asking any New Order questions because I didn't know if he really wanted to answer any of those types of questions at that time. Finally he shook my hand, patted me on my shoulder and told me to enjoy the show. Just then, I think people noticed that I was speaking to Peter Hook, and started coming over. he hung out for a few minutes before returning back stage.

That night was probably one of the biggest thrills in my life, actually meeting my rock hero. but I really wish I would've remained cool and acted differently. Overall, Peter hook seem pretty cool. He probably thought I was a dork. The show was great! I was really shocked to hear Monaco performing JD's Failures for their encore.

"Met" all of New Order. They didn't recognise me, and I just don't have patience with ignorant people :)

I met Hooky in 1993...the day before the gig here in Dallas...he was trying to use matches to light a fag on a very windy day...I offered the use of my zippo...

got his autograph on my Republic CD...

I've told this here story before...more than once even!!!

never had the pleasure, i'm afraid (would probably make a damn fool out of myself if i met barney. you know: :love2: . met a bunch of famous people, but never, alas, new order). i did run into bob hope once...literally!

i think the only musician i ever met was lemmy from motorhead all i can say was he was very very Short

I have told this story before (and no doubt I'll still be telling it, saliva dripping on me chest sitting by the electric mock fire at the OAP's retirement home).

Last Spring Hooky came to Barcelona to do a DJing session (eventually Mani did the DJing and Hooky the walking around nonchalantly). I only learnt about this some hours before it happened and had to convince some friends from work to go and see him (using such devious ways as mentioning to one of them, a huge "Blade" fan that almost certainly "that song from Blade" would be played). By the time we arrived to the disco I woz very, very drunk. We were dancing for a while and then I mustered enough (Dutch)courage to get myself to the DJ box. I am definitely not one to bother celebrities, not too mention bass Gods so I remained at a safe distance. Then it happened: He looked at me, and since I was wearing my recycle T-shirt, he benevolently smiled, beckoned and asked me to approach . We were talking for a while, I remember I asked Him whether They would be playing in Spain (actually I begged Him, more like)He said they would of course and then He signed my T-shirt (damn black t-shirt, he had to sign in the very small arrows!), signed my chest, we had our photo taken by some younger fans (unluckily I have never seen them again and I lost their email so no photos to prove that I was not dreaming)and He went His way, my very existence fading quickly from his own thoughts).

A very nice lad, he is.

was at an ACR gig in Mcr in 90 or 91 and was wearing my 'one true passion' t-shirt, when hooky walked in he spotted me and came over, shook my hand saying 'what a man, what a man!!' and pissed off. Also, steve and gillian were there too (just stood in front) and he didn't even acknowledge them.

i met hooky and pottsy outside the cotton club in atlanta when monaco did their us (mini) tour in 97. they autographed the cd sleeves for music for pleasure and what do you want from me. i was too awestruck to say much, and i did not have a camera with me. i just thanked them. great guys.

I met Peter Hook at the felt forum in NYC in 1986. He was into looking at all the hot women there and was very low key . He and I talked about women, and not music. I also got Barneys attention in Pittsburgh in December of 1986 and he gave me his guitar pick. I have that still to this day. I also was right up front on 7/7/83 at teh Paradise Garage gig and Barney called the guy next me me a cunt. DOes this mean the guy next to me met him? (maybe in an informal way)

So I gues when you meet Hooky, talk about women and not music!

Barney wasn't calling the guy next to you a cunt...he was looking right at YOU when he said it!

I asked Peter for his bass pick at the Vancouver show, and he threw his drum stick at me. I did get one. So thats as close as I got.

Stephen Morris visited me in a dream and gave me the true meaning of the I.C.B. initials. Oh yeah, and he said I was cool.

I once stood next to Stephen Morris in the urinals of the SW1 club in Victoria, London.

Which is as close to a New Order 'member' as I ever hope to be, Thank You Very Much. And even then it was a little toooo close. You can't help standing next to these people thinking, 'god, you're short!'. Er, I'm talking 'bout SM now, and not his member.. .

It was a Rob's Records night with ACR and Sub Sub (Junior Doves) doing sets and I ended up having a stand up row with Mrs Stephen Morris at the bar over whether she was (a) New Order or (b) The Other Two. She claimed to be the latter, I claimed she was the former. Her and her sister found it all most amusing.

I went to Stephen & Gillians house just prior to Christmas 1988 on Hurdsfield Road in Macclesfield - I lived about 100 yards down the road from then for about 18 months - Stephen wore very un-rock n roll slippers I'm sorry to have to relate....

Hooky was hanging out at the soundboard before the Santa Barbara Bowl concert in 1989. After some deliberation I decided to approach him.

I intercepted him just before he headed backstage and asked if they would be playing Dreams Never End. He shook my hand and said "Not tonight, mate". I think he appreciated the recognition of his song.

When I attended the Shoreline Amphitheatre show in 1993 I kept an eye on the soundboard before the show. I recognised Rob Gretton smoking and chatting with the techs. Not really thinking of anything profound to say, I called out "Mr. Gretton". When he looked over at me I stated "You're doing a great job". He didn't say anything back but his face broke into a big grin.

I saw Gretton at the Hollywood Bowl show a couple of days later but after sitting through what was basically a carbon copy of the Shoreline show, I decide I really didn't have anything positive to say.

Never met them but i have heard they are GLAD about that.Means their security is doing a GREAT job.It would spoit it though for HOOKY to call me BALDY!:D

i want to see a scan of the set-list that Allen Jarvis of Johnny Giles got that reads "Peter Hook says Fuck Off"...is that around or did it get lost?

I've got the setlist at home somewhere. I'll try and dig it out. Hooky was sat with his Mrs in San Francisco airport so I asked him to sign the setlist and he coughed, "You cheeky bastard," then proceeded to write the aforementioned epitaph.

Never met them, but from all the stories Hooky seems the most accessible. Wouldn't mind getting a chance to meet them, but I doubt it'd happen :cry:

....spoke to all of them ( 3 anyway ) during the in-store signing this yaer in Sydney....especially Hooky, nice chap...unfortunately I couldn't remember a single thing from the meeting as I was embarrasingly star-strucked....been waiting nearly 20 years for that moment, you know...

Said hello and thanks for coming to Oregon to Barney and Peter as they walked outside of the theater on a beautiful spring day prior to the gig. Got a nod and a thanks from Peter, but they were enjoying the sunny day, so I didn't wanna pester them with a lot of questions.
