You mentioned in another thread about a rehearsal version of Hurt ? Care to elucidate further as it sounds fascinating. Also, as you seem to have much better access to rare stuff than some others, any chance you could shed some light on some of these questions that have always intrigued me (mostly about the very early days):

1. Was there ever a tape made of their Beach Club debut ? If so, what was played ?

2. Are there good quality versions of the Western Works demos in existence ? The version I've got sound like chipmunks !

3. Was Homage ever recorded properly ?

4. Are there any pre-Movement demos ? In fact, any unreleased stuff from those very early days, rehearsals for instance ?

5. Any video footage from the very early days e.g. full concerts from the Ceremony, IALP, EGG & Truth clips on the Factory vids ?

6. Any footage from 'Celebration' & 'Riverside' other than what was aired ?

Any light you can shine on these topics would be much appreciated as they've fascinated me for over 20 years !

2. Are there good quality versions of the Western Works demos in existence ? The version I've got sound like chipmunks ! I've got a decent copy, second generation that I've had for years.

3. Was Homage ever recorded properly ? No

4. Are there any pre-Movement demos ? In fact, any unreleased stuff from those very early days, rehearsals for instance ? Not that I'm aware of

This was recorded but will probably never see the light of day. Peter Hook has a ton(ne) of live recordings.

Only those owned by the band I would imagine so a "second gen'" copy sounds like the best you'll get as mentioned above.

Yes - lots of "demos" & rehearsals. The "Hurt" session I mentioned collapses into a "Spinal Tap" style farce with Barney & Peters conversation

Again, probably. I know that Tony Michaelides Promotions ("TMP") in Manchester have alot of band footage that is otherwise uncatalogued. "True Faith" from Paris '88 & the GMEX performance (pro-recording) amongst other things.

6. Any footage from 'Celebration' & 'Riverside' other than what was aired ?

The Granada (especially) & BBC vaults will contain a few surprises I would think - The soundcheck for "Celebration" would be particularly good to have but is almost impossible to obtain. Even twisting the arms of my TV contacts has proven fruitless. Scottish Media Group now own "Ginger Productions" so I'm checking to see if the TFI Friday performance tape includes "Isolation" which the band came on to do 10 minutes after the show finished. I know it was recorded by one of the engineers at the time but I don't know if this was official or just a fan doing his "job".
