What is special about Retro?

I am thinking of ordering Retro. As of now I only have Substance and Technique. Would it be better for me to get the older (and newer) NO albums or buy Retro?

Is Retro basically a compliation of their best songs and also live versions and mixes?

Anyone have any suggestions :(?

I think you should buy Brotherhood (a great album, perhaps the greatest for me) with the best NO track, bizarre love triangle.

Yes, but don't buy an album titled "The New Order" by the heavy metal band Testament. :) Hahaha. That blasted cd always seems to pop up whenever I browse around on eBay. It as bad as the dreaded Curtis Mayfeild "New World Order" album.

Actually, there was a punk band called New Order in the late 70's. I think it had some of the ex-members from The Stooges in it or something.

i'll go for "Retro"!

If I did not have any New Order - or just a little, I would get Retro for sure. Unless, you could find Substance used and cheap - also the UK Best of really good. Stay FAR away from New Order tribute albums and Rest Of - they are terrible.

Boy, that's a tough one. It would be much cheaper to get Power, Corruption, and Lies and also Low Life. I would consider getting PC&L and LL over Retro - those two albums are SO awesome from beginning to end. Cheaper too. You already have Technique, which is in most people's top 2 NO albums.

I own every NEW ORDER album I can get hold of, including a range of live recordings, but I'm not too sure about RETRO.

The Remix CD looks interesing as does the Live one, but if I was to buy it, I would want the special edition version, just for the full version of ELEGIA! AMAZING TRACK!!

Get PCL and Low Life.

Retro is a pile of cack!! The record company realised almost too late that the people likely to buy it were disappointed with what was on it and came up with the bait, the bonus disk. I wasn't gonna buy Retro, but I will now!

Yeah, get the original LPs now. As mentioned above, if funds are really tight go for PCL & Low Life, if you can afford more, get the rest too. IMHO, the singles based compilations offer one view of what NO sound like, but the LPs are a very different piccy altogether. Brotherhood may be better, but the above 2 will "ease" you in. Or maybe one NO (either of those) and one JD??? You should be able to pick them up relatively cheap anyway if you look a little off the beaten track (hint: avoid the "megastores") so you may be able to get more than you originally thought.
