Listening to Shellshock...

...on MusicChoice (digital cable music channels in the States), and on the New Wave channel (God bless it) played New Order "Shellshock", and maybe it's the extreme lack of sleep talking, but I don't despise it like I once did.

So, does anyone have a least fave NO song that they are starting to get into, and vice versa, do you have a fave that got so overplayed you can't listen to it much anymore?

I'd argue that the backing vocals were added - the Substance/single version came out way after the Low-Life version !

never really liked it that much, but the remixes somehow made it better.

I like Shellshock, but only the Pretty in Pink version for some reason. The mix is less annoying then the 12" in my opinion, which seems to repeat the chorus too many times. I think that's what it is... I like the music, but the lyrics get kind of boring.

As for Sub-Culture, I love the Low-Life version. One of my favorite tunes to walk home to after work. The 12" is horrid. The back up singer needs to be removed, and Barney's vocals need alot of work, he sounds like he is trying to sing with a deeper voice and with soul. I perfer his detached girly voice better on the Low-Life version.

For those who like the Low-Life version, keep an eye out for the "Exclusive Remix" version, it's really great. It has the same vocals from Low-Life but with different music. My only complaint is that it fades out in the end. I found it off the "Out of Order" bootleg.

Early on, I didn't care much for Thieves Like Us (the intro seemed to go on forever) but now it's one of my faves.

I used to think Fine TIme was just too goofy and not to be taken even half-serious. But now, whenever I want to jump into a good mood or am going out for a drive, I pop in Technique and wait for the drums! Ive definitely changed my opinion of that song.

I've always liked "Shellshock" so that was never an issue for me. "Fine Time" has always been the lone track on Technique that I mildly disliked. Now it's becoming more bearable after further listens. Different, but good.

i have this new wave channel they play the substance version of Perfect kiss but put up the lowlife artwork its a great channel though they play good stuff

As big a booster for Thieves as I am now, initially I didn't take a shine to it

WIM and Shellshock are the Anti-Christs of the NO catalogue, in my humble opinion

i really hated bizarre love triangle, state of the nation, shellshock. It was the middle of the 80's. It sounded so awful, too noisy with them experimenting on the production. The remixes were even better :S

nowadays i can listen to BLT without irritation.It is really a beautiful song.

I played Blue Monday every single day for 6 months after it came out. I hadn't listened to the record until last night for about 10 years.

On the flipside, I used to hate Shellshock and Your Silent Face, but now they have become two favourites.

Maybe in 15 years time I will like Slow Jam !

Shellshock was never one of my favourites, chiefly because of that over-familiar and cliched ticking sequencer noise all the way through it - which featured on so many dancey electro hits during that period.

The film Pretty In Pink was bloody crap as well - one of the worst films I've ever seen.. So I never bothered getting the Soundtrack for that matter either - even if Psychedelic Furs (a much underrated band) performed the title song...

What's so bad about Pretty in Pink?

At first Regret annoyed the crap out of me. Now I like it okay. Your Silent Face has never went well with me either, for some reason. Call me crazy.
